The word is that Rick Pitino is a mess and just keeps on going like nothing happened. You, of course, must know about the scandal he was involved in with the blonde who later tried to extort money from him, but that is not the only story from a guy writing self help books to help others when it appears he is a mess himself.

Rick Pitino wants back in the NBA

It seems that Rick surrounds himself with men that could be labeled henchmen or roadies that make every stay he has a crazy time. He swears to respect basketball, but many suspect he does not even respect himself. He destroyed the Boston Celtics and then left town. They took a long time to recover. Now it looks like he will leave Louisville for a job at Sacramento if they will have him. The question will be if Rick will have them after they hire him.

This is how it works with Pitino, and this is the reason he’ll never again get offered anything but a lousy NBA job for a lousy franchise. Privately, his employees called him King Lear (as well as “The Aging Prom Queen”) when he was with the Boston Celtics. He had a fiefdom of sham basketball minds and cronies who took over the Celtics and bombarded general manager Chris Wallace daily with insane and ill-informed trade proposals.

Only now, no GM wants Pitino. Why take the chance of him undermining them? Why waste money hiring all his buddies?

Pitino promised the Kings that he could fit his ego into a franchise’s front-office framework, but it was hard to believe. He didn’t want to be emperor anymore, just a coach. If he just wanted to coach, Pitino could be good in the NBA. He did an excellent job in his two seasons with the New York Knicks in the late 1980s, and terrific work his first season with the Boston Celtics. But this was long ago in the NBA.

Can the Sacramento Kings be this desperate to hire Rick Pitino and his gang? Only in the NBA.

Rumors have the Sacramento Kings talking to Rick Pitino for the head coaching job.
Nevertheless, sources say the Maloofs are weighing the worth of paying what it would take to secure Pitino. The Kings are considering several candidates, including front-runner Eddie Jordan, and had been waiting until later in May to start interviews.

Nevertheless, sources say the Maloofs are weighing the worth of paying what it would take to secure Pitino. The Maloofs hadn’t planned to pay much more than $2.5 million a season for any coach, sources say, but the owners understand they’ll need to significantly raise that figure to get serious with Pitino

Beyond money, the Maloofs would have to sell Pitino’s candidacy to general manager Geoff Petrie. Pitino has insisted that he no longer craves the personnel control that he had with the Boston Celtics, but his ego and power-hungry history can make entrenched league executives hesitant. It’s unclear where Petrie stands on a Pitino candidacy.
source

Rick Pitino had the unfortunate luck to run his Louisville team against my MSU Spartans this year in the NCAA tournament. My Spartys, the team of destiny, destroyed Louisville in a game that was basically over before halftime. The Spartans were shutting Louisville down and Rick did not use his full court press. Louisville had no outside shooting that day.

Why was that unlucky? The fans did not see the game that way. The fans expected to win. Louisville was the highest rated of the number one teams going into that game.

Would Rick bring the running game back to Sacramento or would his college pressing style not work in a league where even forwards are great ball handlers? The Kings don’t seem to care. They just want some excitement.

Tisdale, now an award-winning jazz musician, underwent treatment and later had knee replacement surgery and resumed touring. Tisdale was still undergoing chemotherapy when he told the AP in June that “I feel better than ever. I’m excited. I’ve got a whole new look on life. Each week during the NBA season there are some numbers that just grab you on the stat sheet. It might not necessarily be the highest scorer of the week, but rather something that is a little out of the ordinary.
Here are a few things that have stood out this week.
5 – Baron Davis had five blocks on Friday night against the Clippers. FIVE! I’m not sure that he’s had five other blocks in his life. Well … okay it’s not that drastic, but he [...]
Post from: NBA Obsessed

5 – Baron Davis had five blocks on Friday night against the Clippers. FIVE! I’m not sure that he’s had five other blocks in his life. Well … okay it’s not that drastic, but he has averaged 0.4 blocks a game in his NBA career.

19 – When you see 19 next to Jason Kidd’s name, you may assume that’s his assists. Not in this case, 34-year-old Kidd has 19 rebounds on Friday night against the Magic en route to his 89th triple-double of his career. I bet he would trade it for a victory as the New Jersey was pounded by Orlando 95-70.

20 – Reserve rookie Luis Scola of the Rockets was averaging less than four points a game heading into Friday night’s contest against the Spurs. After scoring 20 points on 10-for-11 shooting against San Antonio on Friday night, he followed it up with another 20 against the Suns on Saturday.

43 – Kevin Martin went wild against the Knicks on Friday, scoring 43 points on 11-for-21 from the field and 16-of-19 from the line. The 24-year-old Martin is second in the league in points per game (28.2) behind LeBron James.
