Today, why don’t we look at playoff games for a player’s career?

So who has the most NBA playoff games in their career that is still playing?

1. Robert Horry 244 – Somehow this guy gets himself on teams that win it all and he makes big shots.

2. Shaquille O’Neal 203 – The big guy was the dominant player in the game for most of his career.

3. Tim Duncan 155 – The big fundamental always seems to get the job done and creates a mismatch on the court.

4. Derek Fisher 154 – Just like Robert Horry, this guy finds a way to play for winning teams and makes big shots.

5. Kobe Bryant 152 – What Kobe did last year cemented his legacy as one of the best players in the game for all time.

6. Rasheed Wallace 149 – The mercurial center for the Pistons can be whatever he wants to be on a given night and he plays superb defense.

7. Lindsey Hunter 141 – Lindsey may be done, but Joe Dumars keeps talking him into one more year. The speedy backcourt player is one of the best one on one defenders of quick point guards.

8. Sam Cassell 136 – You could see age catching up to the quick shooting Sam Cassell as he played for the Celtics last year. Sam could always get his shot off in the playoffs, which is a special skill in itself.

9. Bruce Bowen 130 – a key member of Tim Duncan’s team, Bruce can stop any forward or big guard in the league.

10. Chauncey Billups and Tony Parker 117 – both excellent guards at the point position for their respective teams. Tony is more of a penetrator and Chauncey is known for his big shots.

The Nuggets are upset, because they just lost to the Utah Jazz in Utah.

They shouldn’t be.

As your intrepid author predicted two days ago, Denver would lose to Utah, while Golden State would probably beat the Clippers at home. Denver is still safe. Denver has the tie breaker.

Golden State is on the road with the Suns and home with the Supersonics. Call that one loss and one victory.

Denver has two home games remaining. One with the Rockets and one with the Grizzlies. Most likely they only need to beat the Grizzlies to limp into the playoffs.

Over in the East

Meanwhile, Atlanta failed to beat Boston due to a hot Sam Cassell and thus failed to clinch a playoff spot.

Atlanta would have ended the NBA’s longest playoff drought with a victory, because Indiana lost to Charlotte earlier Saturday. The Hawks remained two games ahead of the Pacers with two to play, lowering their magic number to one for the right to face the Celtics in a first-round series.

Even is Atlanta clinches, they are nothing more than mince meat to the Celtics.

Hey, Sam Cassell, if you want to win, go to Boston

Not sure about this one.

The 38-year-old Cassell averaged 12.8 points for the Los Angeles Clippers this season before negotiating his long-rumored exit. He is expected to back up starting point guard Rajon Rondo and play some off-guard.

“Since I got traded here last summer, Sam was excited about this team’s potential,” said guard Ray Allen, noting the deal will take pressure off Rondo.

“Sam will give Rondo another gear,” Allen said.

The 6-foot-3 Cassell is expected to take minutes from Eddie House, who has been backing up Rondo all season. source

My first thoughts were, Sam Cassell, hmm, pretty good player, pretty good shooter.

My second thoughts were, where does he play? Back up to Rajon Rondo? Hardly, Sam has never been one to be a backup. Back up to Ray Allen? Not likely either. Where will he get his shots?

Now they talk about benching Eddie House. Eddie plays a lot fewer minutes, shoots fewer shots with the same shooting percentage and a higher 3 point percentage.

Danny Ainge seems to be overloading the house.

But who knows, Sam has played for so many crummy teams that maybe he is willing to sacrifice everything, maybe he is even willing to play defense, just to get a ring.

Good luck on this one Boston.

With Ray Allen needing his shots, Paul Pierce needing his shots, and Kevin Garnett deserving his shots, where are all these shots going to come from?

But, maybe just maybe, Sam just wants a ring.
