NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
Are we forgetting Tim Duncan? Will the Spurs just go away? Has Duncan lost his drive?
Nah!
Tim is always ready come playoff time and as usual is the ultimate mismatch player alternating short drives with post up moves making it very difficult to stop him.
But take a look at the Western Conference.
With just a little over 10 games to go in the regular season.
The Lakers dominate with 54 victories and look solid with a returning Bynum.
But the rest of the group?
Houston 46 victories
San Antonio 45
Denver 45

If you are Steve Nash and you are going to sit out some NBA basketball games, you might as well play soccer
Nobody lives forever and apparently nobody starts most NBA games forever. Steve Kerr is planning to play Steve Nash in only 70 of the teams 82 games. That is the plan anyway.
Steve Kerr is a disciple of Gregg Popovich, the coach of the Spurs. His theory is to keep his star players rested for the playoffs.
Looking at Tim Duncan’s minutes, Popovich has rested his …read more

Superbad Superman has a stress fracture, but not to worry. It will heal in time for the next set of practices on July 21. That is when training camp resumes.
“It’s a six to eight week recovery time, and this is the sixth week,” said Team USA coach Mike Krzyzewski, who expects Howard to be fully healed by the time the team reconvenes for training camp July 21.
Still, the injury is worrisome for the Americans, who are planning to go to Beijing with just three big men …read more

How do they do it?
They do it with defense.
The San Antonio Spurs have the best record in the Western Conference. They just extended their longest winning streak of the season with a 10th win in a row against the Vince Carter New Jersey Nets. They are one game better than the Kobe Lakers.
San Antonio 81 – New Jersey 70
That’s right, 70 stinking points.

Yao Ming stress fracture, goodbye Rockets

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
Unbelievable, simply unbelievable.
The Houston Rockets go a 12 game win streak, start playing great ball, have everything working, get themselves back into the playoff picture and “Pow” they are out of it.
Yao Ming has a stress fracture and will not be able to play for the rest of the season.
The Rockets are done for.
No Yao, no playoffs.
They may win for a while on pure emotion and T-Mac going off for a lot of points, but sooner or later they will miss long tall Yao.
“It is not an injury …read more

NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
The quiet notes will take quick looks at what is going on in the NBA.
The top teams are:
(in no particular order)
San Antonio Spurs (now with Kurt Thomas) until proven otherwise in the playoffs
Detroit Pistons now with added youth
Boston Celtics with the 3 amigos
The hottest team:
Houston Rockets with an energized T-Mac and best center Yao
Biggest question?
Who will play better? Cleveland with Wallace or Chicago with Gooden?
As always, any NBA Basketball related comments are welcome.

LeBron James All Star MVP – Time to get out of Dodge err Cleveland!
With David Stern happy to have NBA Marketing Icon LeBron James as the MVP of the 2008 All Star game, the world can move on.
If you had to lay odds, it had to be James as MVP.
The NBA is a marketing organization, not a sports organization. Right now the future of the NBA seems secure, with possible expansion out of the USA and many stars in the league, but it can change …read more

Tim Duncan says “You have to stop me to get to the finals
The Lakers picked up Pau Gasol, so they would not lose any momentum when Andrew Bynum was injured. When Bynum comes back, you have a front court of Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, and Lamar Odom to go with Kobe Bryant. Arguably a powerful lineup.
The Phoenix Suns dealt the Matrix for Shaquille O’Neal. The Suns needed a center to get past the Spurs and because the Gasol deal had moved the Lakers ahead of them. If Shaq …read more

LeBron James knows he must improve for Cleveland to win
It is not often that LeBron James is humbled.
It is even less often that the King is shown to be at a deficit with his hoop skills.
The Cleveland Cavaliers surprised a lot of teams last year, but unless LeBron and the team improve, they will fall behind the Pistons, Celtics, and probably the Magic.
And right now LeBron is behind Kobe in his ability to finish a game.
In last year’s Championship, the San Antonio Spurs took LeBron and basically punished …read more
