LeBron James is partying at the thought of all the NBA players available in 2009

Even with all the big name free agents in 2010, with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh in the group, the year 2009 could still be the year of the free agent.

Try this out for 2009.

Some of the Restricted Free Agents: Andrew Bynum, Marvin Williams, Jason Maxiell

Some of the players that can opt out of contracts: Kobe Bryant, Carlos Boozer, Rip Hamilton, Hedo Turkoglu

True Free Agents: Shawn Marion, Andre Miller, Rasheed Wallace

So what about money?
Some teams are loaded depending on what happens.

Thunder 25 – 30 million
Trail Blazers 15 – 32 million
Grizzlies 18 – 24 million
Pacers 11 million
Heat 10 million
Bobcats 10 million

Plain and Simple, there will be lots of player movement in 2009 in the NBA.

Kevin Durant gives a thumbs up to the Thunder

Now can they bring the Thunder?

They even have team colors.

Team chairman Clay Bennett said the team colors will be blue, red and orange — blue to coincide with the main color of Oklahoma’s state flag and red and orange to reflect the colors of the sunset.

Guess what? They have TV in Oklahoma City. Not much though.

Last season, the team had eight nationally televised games with Durant playing in his rookie campaign. However, after finishing a franchise-low 20-62 last season, it’s no surprise Oklahoma City isn’t playing many games in prime time this season.

DRAFT PICKS:

Russell Westbrook, G, 6-3, UCLA — Defensive-minded combo guard who the Sonics hope will develop into a defensive stopper.

Serge Ibaka, F, 6-10, Republic of Congo — Talented but unpolished front-court player who the team will keep in Europe and continue to develop. Pick acquired from Phoenix.

D.J. White, F, 6-9, Indiana — A good rebounder who can shoot and play with his back to the basket. Gives the Sonics another scoring option inside. Acquired from Detroit by the Sonics trading their 32nd and 46th picks.

Devon Hardin, C, 6-11, California — A long, athletic player who can block shots and potentially develop into a defensive presence inside for the Sonics.

Sept 3rd. Mark it on your calendar. That is the day the Oklahoma City NBA team will reveal its name and colors.

Clay Bennett’s ownership group has applied for trademarks for six names: Thunder, Energy, Wind, Marshalls, Barons and Bison.

Oklahoma City television station KOCO has reported that the choice will be Thunder. Bennett has refused to say what the name will be.
