Sometimes you have to hit bottom to look up and see everything that you are missing, to notice all that is really important, to feel what is being missed. One can only hope that this is one of those times. Gilbert Arenas pleads guilty to carrying an unlicensed gun. He had the gun right in the locker room. What is it with these young athletes and their guns?

So what exactly went down?

Sources say Arenas’ attorney had tried hard to plead the case down to four separate misdemeanor charges – one for each gun in the locker room – but Arenas’ past misdemeanor gun possession, as well as the public nature of the case, made it impossible. It took Arenas too long to surround himself with competent counsel and advice, and he paid a price.

His own judgment is horrible, and Arenas should’ve relied on others. He turned his guns into team security, when he probably should’ve hustled them out of the building. He kept talking, when he should’ve stayed silent. He let the Wizards advise him on an attorney, when he should’ve found his own.

They are now searching Crittenton’s house for guns and they have him square in their sites. This whole episode may cause the Wizards to implode, but others see it as a chance to do a little bit of spring cleaning. The chemistry on this team is terrible and the team was already sitting in last place and recently lost to the Detroit Pistons. Not a whole lot of teams can claim losing to the Pistons.

Right now it is even money that Arenas will serve at least 6 months of prison. Meanwhile the Wizards have already removed all remembrances of Gilbert Arenas from the team and the arena. If they are smart he is gone!

Gilbert has lost monetarily as well. The NBA player’s agreement allows David Stern to suspend Gilbert Arenas indefinitely without pay for the gun charges. Stern did just that costing Arenas 4 years of his 6 year 111 million dollar contract. Now we find out that Adidas has dropped Gilbert Arenas as a client as well. Corporate America is very cognizant of the family values.

The move demonstrates the short fuse that Madison Avenue now has with wayward athletic endorsers. Golf superstar Tiger Woods has been dropped by two corporate sponsors, ATT and Accenture, following recent allegations of his alleged extramarital affairs with multiple women.

The Wizards are now in a position to turn this into a long term positive. Should they fail and they may, the team will implode.

We live in such a wacky world that it really takes something on the outer fringe to move the brain of NBAObsessed and this is such a thing. How in the world can this goofball pretend to know what Tiger Woods is going through?

Maybe even a better question to ask in these strange circumstances deals with whether Tiger Woods would desire to have Ron Artest as his ally? This is the man that ran up into the stands and beat up a fan in the malice in the palace against the Detroit Pistons. This is the same man that then refused any psychological counseling after that affair even though the NBA recommended it. This is a man that is known as a disruptive force.

Ron Artest as always lived by Nike’s motto to ‘Just do it!’Tiger has to be cringing at the thought of Ron Artest feeling he can empathize with him. What is next, Charles Barkley?

Artest, of course, has become famous for his questionable decisions, both on and off the court. He was suspended during the 2004-05 season for attacking a Pistons fan, and just recently told The Sporting News magazine that he sipped Hennessey during games while with the Bulls.

Hey, don’t get me wrong, as Vegas now takes bets on which major sponsor will next drop Tiger Woods and his wife the Swedish model takes up advertising for Puma, Tiger Woods will not be cast as the good guy, but then Ron Artest is often cast as a crazed individual with some deep seated issues. Whether valid criticism or not, Tiger may be wishing it was Charles Barkley.
