Enough is enough. Bring them back. Now.
The NBA replacement referees are no doubt trying their hardest to fit in and do a good job. Maybe too good of a job. Yesterday your intrepid author, NBAObsessed, wrote about the coach from Tel Aviv, Pini Gershon, getting kicked out of an exhibition game.
Yes, you heard that correct, an exhibition game!
This is just another case of the NBA replacement referees taking their jobs a bit too seriously. Maybe they think they will get hired on permanently.
This was one of those games …read more

The New York Knicks seem to get into all kinds of bizarre situations even in an exhibition game. This time the New York Knicks were involved in drawing out the worst in the replacement referees. If there is a worst at this point. David Stern has to do something about these guys. These guys being the replacement referees. There is something to be said for experience.

In the third quarter the replacement referees called two technical fouls on the coach …read more

Stephon Marbury, the man that had the Starbury shoes, has decided to take off the shoes for one year and just sit. Well, he is going to do more than sit, because he plans to build up his empire even more. So as a business decision, he will not take the 1.2 million to go back and play for the Boston Celtics.
Business decision as in no other team really wanted a selfish old point guard.
Hey, you are picking on one of my all time favorite players, …read more

You have to go back to my youth to understand my feelings here. Back in the day and this was long ago before Magic and before Bird, but after the prime of Russell. In those days of pre-cable and no VCR, let alone a dvr, the games on TV were very limited. Mostly you watched Boston and rooted against them, unless you lived in Boston or you watched New York and rooted for them, especially when they played Boston. Keep in mind this was …read more

Ok, no surprise here in the NBA.com Power Rankings.
Yes, it is the Los Angeles Lakers number 1 as they should be, but maybe you should take a look, because they added Ron Artest. If handled correctly he can be a force. And Lamar Odom? They resigned him and he is a difference maker.
There was little doubt that fans in Cleveland, Boston, Orlando, San Antonio and other cities were holding out hope that Lamar Odom(notes) would just sign with Miami instead of returning to the Lakers.

What is going on with these teams anyway? The Mavericks, Knicks, and Trail Blazers are fighting, that is right, fighting to sign Jason Kidd. Why? He will be a basketball grandpa age of 37 next year and how is he supposed to keep up with the speedy young guards if his team makes the playoffs?
Jason Kidd will be in the Hall of Fame and there is no questioning that at all, but he will be there for piling up stats like the rest of us …read more
Isiah Thomas set to achieve new lows

Yesterday, we discussed how Isiah Thomas was still loved in Michigan no matter what kind of mockery he makes of himself out in the world of coaching. Today, we will look at the fact that he appears to be making a mockery of himself again.
Florida International deserves everything they get, so they better have an exit strategy. For myself, let us hope that Isiah surprises the nay sayers (that includes myself) and finds his coaching mojo.
The doubters are out there.

It is just that kind of day. The kind of Michigan day when you go outside and the cold rain beats down on your head and the sun is lost somewhere on the other side of the clouds. You know in the back of your mind that this is about as good as it gets and at least there is no snow. Yes, it is just that kind of day.
Someone at Florida International lost their minds and hired Isiah Thomas at the same time.

There is always the question of whether you want someone like Stephon Marbury on your team. It is complicated. No one doubts his talent, but it is all those other things that matter just as much. Just what are you getting with Marbury on your team?
Maybe even the bigger question is what state of mind is Marbury in?
When Marbury walks into that Celtics locker room, the con is over. He has been threatening a long time to show what he can do for a contender. …read more

Kobe Bryant just came up with a 61 point performance in leading the Lakers to a 126 to 117 victory over the Knicks.
As long as Mike D’Antoni is the coach of a bad Knicks team then high scores will abound, but there is definitely something special about scoring 61.
Kobe’s New York moment turned out to be a once-in-a-lifetime thrill ride as the league’s reigning MVP poured in 61 points – the most ever by any player at the Garden – in the Lakers’ 126-117 victory.
King, the former …read more
