However, it is a viable alternative for the GNOME desktop (or XFCE etc..) Either way, it does what it's supposed to do: Play Music. It does it quite well. Having the option of listening to Jamendo playlists and Last.fm, among others, is actually quite nice. I'm sure Amarok has these features as well. I like BMPx a lot.
