Checking out Org mode in Emacs

I’ve been using Planner mode in Emacs for quite a while now but I’ve seen how nifty Org Mode works so I decided to try it out myself. There are various note-taking apps in Linux such as Tomboy, GJots2, the sticky notes applet, KNotes and more. However, there’s nothing like a note/PIM integrated in Emacs, if you ask me.

Org Mode is nice because of the following:
- It’s just a bunch of text files which you could edit quickly and easily find.
- It’s free form. You could format it in whatever possible way. You could assign vaious tags for particular items.
- Not much clicking around. — For me, that’s a good thing. It means I just have to have the list and type stuff in. It’s simple enough that way.
- There are many people have shared the way they use Org Mode. — Honestly, I am just learning from these people too! But for now, I mainly use it as a list and an outline for the things I need to note.
- It’s in Emacs!
‘Nuff said.
If you want to check out Org Mode, it’s in Emacs 22. “M-x org-mode” should do the trick.
You’d see how lovely Outline mode could be with this.
