Create your own Ubuntu Media Server

It seems like we’ve been covering Ubuntu quite a bit recently, but this tutorial was to good to pass up. Rubbervir.us has a tutorial that explains how to turn Ubuntu into a media server. Unfortunately, the tutorial would be a little bit challenging for a newcomer to Linux. If you’ve got plenty of experience with Linux then this tutorial should be a breeze. The tutorial covers a great deal of information including how to setup SSH and Samba. This is a perfect use for an old computer that hasn’t been used in years.

I’m first! But I want to know more than this…I think this is a great tutorial! I am kinda new to Linux so I want to try and figure it out though. Maybe I can figure it out with some searching

I’ve actually tried to do this with no success. Would appreciate any help you could offer.

I’m a newcomer to Linux; I figured out how to do this but it does not really set up a media server; just SSH. For those that don’t know SSH and media servers are as different as night and 1. Waste of time unless you just want SSH.
