What games does your eldest play? If it's MMORPGs, then yeah, the tendency is to use Windows. I am glad that they can use either OS :) Not a lot of people can say that they are comfortable no matter what they use, unfortunately. :(

Well, I have raised/am raising geek kids - 23, nearly 17, 14.5, 8 and 6.

The teens dual boot - for their ipods, they loathe itunes, think gtkpod rocks it over that POC. (Agreed, wish it worked with iphone, sigh)

The younger two - well, linux has tuxracer, tuxpaint, gcompris etc (also all available for windows). They love it, and i love the lack of maintaining it. There is a great kids ubuntu now called qimo - edubuntu being great for classrooms.

The eldest is a windows chick, simply for games.

They use newer technology as naturally as we would have used the older tech such as televisions, telephones etc.

To them, o/s is about function and look, not politics. But at least they are as comfortable with linux as they are with windows! (Actually, left to their choices, more so linux than windows, but zealotry and teens is mega fail;) )
