Go back in time with Fly Back

Thanks to Timelady for the link to a blog entry about Fly Back - a back up utility which you could configure to take snapshots at particular intervals. It sounds like a good thing to me, now that I am reminded of how my former teammate would make a back up of our files every 6pm. This looks like a simple to use alternative to making manual backups.

What’s the deal?
Flyback is a utility based on rsnapshot but with a Gtk look and feel. Also, from another review, it was said that Flyback creates successive backup directories mirroring the files that you want to make sure are backed up.” For those who are used to the commandline, you could also run it via commandline.

Dependencies
Install the dependencies first before you even try to install this nifty backup utility. There are instructions for three distros:
Debian - $ sudo apt-get install python python-glade2 python-gnome2 python-sqlite3 rsync
Ubuntu - $ sudo apt-get install python python-glade2 python-gnome2 python-sqlite3 python-gconf rsync
Redhat/Fedora - $ yum install pygtk2 gnome-python2-gconf pygtk2-libglade python-sqlite3
