Macbook down; Vista and Linux will still fight it out

At the PWN 2 OWN hacking contest, the MacBook Air has been hacked already. However, the Linux and Vista machines have yet to be hacked.

Sounds interesting.

Contest rules state that Miller could only take advantage of software that was pre-installed on the Mac, so the flaw he exploited must have been accessible, or possibly inside, Apple’s Safari browser.

Quote from Techworld’ article about the PWN 2 OWN contest.

The other machines with Linux and Vista running on them will be attempted to get hacked again by the participants on the last day of the conference. I am hoping that Linux will prevail and not get hacked!

  1. Dave S says:

Would be good if they said what flavour of Linux was installed. Presumably it’s Ubuntu?

Just seems kinda meaningless to me to say that it’s a “Linux” machine, because that actually tells us very little.
