On Using BloGtk

I’ve been using Drivel for the longest time as my blogging client. It has always been quick and easy for me to select my the blog I was going to write to. BloGtk was giving me problems the last time I tried but I need to try it out again.

Earlier I tried to write a blog entry using BloGtk but it was difficult for me to select a category. Anyhow, it seems to be working fine now. So yes, how does one use BloGtk?

  1. Set your blog information through the Edit menu where you could add accounts and change settings. You need the following information:
    • Blog URL: http://yourwordpressblogurl.com/xmlrpc.php
    • Username: Your username on the blog
    • Password: Your password on the blog
    • Blogging System: Choose “Movable type”

The thing about BloGtk is that you only have three options for the type of Blogging System: Blogger, Metaweblog and Movable Type. WordPress users must choose Metaweblog in order to post a blog entry.

  2. Click the Save button so these things are saved in the application.
  3. Click OK
  4. Connect to the blog you want to write to. You could do this by going to the File menu and selecting Connect.
  5. Start writing the title of your blog entry. And you could make the post itself. You could even select the category of your post. If you want, you could also add tags. On the Advanced tab, Keywords has space and this is where you set your tags.

Some advantages of BloGtk over Drivel:

  • Preview. There is a preview tab so you have a better idea of what you’re drafting is already ok or not.
  • There’s a way to add tags because of the keywords option. That’s good because that means I don’t really need to ask for help about that.

I do hope that this application will just work properly after all this.
