Openbox 3 as a your window manager – without much fuss!

I just installed Openbox recently and that’s because I miss it’s simplicity and very clean look. I used to have it as my main window manager, but I have heard and read of its use as a replacement for Metacity. People have set it up and have written neat how-to’s but turns out that from your log-in screen, you could choose what would handle the session. It could be Gnome, Openbox or Gnome + Openbox. Neat huh? I immediately saw the difference because my current theme in Gnome has hearts on the windowbars. When I chose Gnome with Openbox, my windowbars were definitely different. It was plan blue. No hearts.

Well, then again, some people choose Openbox as window manager then add Gnome panel. I tried it once but it felt weird, somehow. So I switched from that Openbox with Pypanel. I am thinking about it again actually. But I am currently still in love with my Gnome setup so that might wait for another day.
