Reading scanned comic books via Comix

Sometimes people think that they won’t be able to do some fun things anymore once they switch to Linux. My sister and I like reading scanlations of Japanese manga. They’re available as archived files with such extensions: .zip, .rar, .cbr, .cbt and also .cbz. I looked for a comic reader in the repositories and actually found several! I tried out Comix and found it has suited my needs well.

Features I find nifty:

• You could have a comic book library by dragging and dropping archived files into the library.
• You have different options as to how the pages are going to be presented: 2 pages side by side, just one page at a time, magnified, full screen, and so on.
• There’s a magnifier you could use to read the text in really fine print.
• The keyboard controls are easy to use. Example: spacebar for the next page or the down arrow and so on.
• Bookmarking of your favorite pages.
• Extracting particular images from the comic book archive.

See? It looks nifty! You could use it to read your favorite manga or your favorite comic books. Just look for it in your distro’s repository or download it from the Sourceforge page.
