Be free and choose your software!
If you’re sick and tired of getting locked in to particular software because the vendor says so, think again. You have the right to choose the software you will use and there are so many others out there who can help you!
If you’re someone who has made the choice, take it one step further: show others why you made that choice and why they should too.
If you fall into either category, then Software Freedom Day is for you! All over the world, people celebrate Software Freedom Day by having demos of various free and open source software, discussions and tutorials, as well as a place to copy various free and open source software. It’s a venue to meet up for newbies, for those who are curious and for those who have been using open source software for quite some time already. Maybe you just feel like hanging out with people of like-minds and this is going to be quite the event for you. Check out your local open source community mailing lists or IRC channels and see how you could participate.
There’s time to help prepare for it and spread the word.
Mark September 15 on your calendars and make sure it’s going to be a memorable one!
