A co-worker just asked me earlier: What blogging software should he use on his desktop?
I could not answer the question right away. Part of me was thinking that he could have answeed that quite easily. But not really. One of the first things he asked is: “Is WordPress a light enough solution?”
It is indeed worth noting that WordPress is fairly light. The download from the website is never bloated. Just several MB. Here’s the catch though: It runs on Apache and you need MySQL and PHP as well. For those who are using Apache, …read more

I’ve been using Drivel for the longest time but I’ve realized that there are other tools I could use for blogging. And here’s a short comparison of the three tools I’ve used.
Drivel
I’ve heard about Drivel through friends who have been using LiveJournal and they use Drivel as their blogging client. It’s a really awesome client for LiveJournal because you could really choose which user icon to use, as well as select your privacy filter. Your custom filters are actually reflected in the choices. I’ve been using Drivel for the longest time as my blogging client. It has always been quick and easy for me to select my the blog I was going to write to. BloGtk was giving me problems the last time I tried but I need to try it out again.
Earlier I tried to write a blog entry using BloGtk but it was difficult for me to select a category. Anyhow, it seems to be working fine now. So yes, how does one use BloGtk?
Set your blog information through the Edit menu where you could add accounts …read more
The Search for a Good Blogging Client

I’m using Drivel, and sometimes Tomboy to post blog entries on my blog. They each have different purposes that’s why I use them both. Tomboy is very useful when it comes to posting something without graphics and really quickly. I have the tendency to use Tomboy when I need to take down notes during conferences and other such meetings and get-togethers because the outliner of Tomboy is really easy to use. Drivel, on the other hand, is richer in the way that I could format my blog entries as well as the fact that I could insert …read more
