Not everyone is very familiar with using the command line and now there is an option for users to have a graphical front-end for it. Sometimes it might be overwhelming for users especially new ones to use the command line. And it could be less confusing for them to have graphical symbols to help them. Dropbox has Updates

I didn’t realize it until after it stopped fetching updates from people I shared files with. One day the icon didn’t ‘move’ — it didn’t have the ’syncing’ motion which I’d usually see when it’s updating. I never wondered why until this weekend, when I had all the time in the world to care about it.
