One of the great things about EA when it comes to the Sims franchise is how they’ve embraced YouTube and movie making to showcase the games.

Whether it’s a political rally staring a simmed Sarah Palin or a “good luck” wish for Susan Boyle…heck, they’ve even done a Star Trek parody and a New Moon spoof,

Now, with Christmas just days away, the movie making team has made a ten reasons why Sims 3 makes a great Christmas gift video.

#2 is my favorite. Which reason is your favorite and if you haven’t gotten Sims 3 yet, do you plan to have it on your Christmas list for this year?

The Sims 3 Addictive TV Video Remix

This is one of those videos where you sit there and you watch it and you wonder how the hell they managed to get everything synched up just right.

Maybe I’m the only one who sat there and thought that? Surely not!

I did watch the video twice looking for tiny little breaks in the action where I knew they had spliced together clips. I can’t help myself-I do that stuff for fun.

On a completely unrelated note, I have finally progressed past the point of making myself in Sims 3 and am now building my dream bungalow. Details [and probably pictures] to come in the very near future.

Easy Movies with Sims 3 Movie Mashup Tool

One of the main reasons that I have never gotten into making movies with Sims 2 is that it takes me FOREVER.

I have to set everything up just right, capture the video just right, then I have to import it all to Movie Maker and hope that I have the patience to see the whole thing to the end. Maybe if I attempted making Sims 2 movies more often then I would get better at it. However, the whole process is so clunky and annoying to me that I can’t bring myself to practice.

That’s why this video of the Movie Mashup Tool in the Sims 3 is exciting to me. Not only does the tool look easy to use, you can publish directly to YouTube from the tool.

Cool stuff, folks.

The Ultimate Spore Creature Creator Dance Off

Since the Spore Creature Creator has apparently taken the world by storm with more creatures created than exist in the real world, EA has decided to take over YouTube as well with their announcement of a Creature Dance Off.

The steps are simple:

Download the Creature Creator – free!

Create a creature and make him dance – make sure you record it

Upload creature to YouTube and register the video

Pretty cut and dry but you might as well head on over to the YouTube page to read everything for yourself. Also, click here for the “official” rules.

The prize is a trip to the Smithsonian Museum and registration ends on August 1st so hurry up.
