Michael Vick flips for his fans

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Michael gestures to the crowd
The frustration was mounting and then there was the gesture.
Michael Vick would love for the Falcons to win. The NFL would love for Michael Vick to win. Adoring fans all over the world would love for Michael Vick to win.
The Falcons keep losing.
Michael Vick came within 7 yards of his rushing record for quarterbacks last Sunday. He had 166 yards rushing.
The Falcons lost to the Saints 31 - 13.
Michael Vick has tried… to improve his passing. Even emphasizing his passing at times. Still his quarterback rating is a 72.1.
The Falcons even lost to my lowly Lions.
The Falcons lead the league in rushing. Michael is their leading rusher with Warrik Dunn close behind 870 to 865 yards. Warrick started out hot, but when he gets close to the goal line teams just stack the line and dare Vick to throw.
They are second to the last in the league in passing. Consider that Oakland is last and they do not even have a starting quarterback.
The Falcons leading receiver is a tight end, Alge Crumpler. (Squibster full disclosure - Alge is on my Fantasy Football team)
Six years in the league and Michael’s quarterback rating has never approached his second year total of 81.6.
So the frustration continues to increase and Michael made a two hand gesture to the fans that he had to make a written apology for on Sunday night. Vick blames the coaches or receivers for his lack of passing success or maybe that is just the dismal situation getting him down so much that he is lashing out.
Why can’t Mike pass? Everyone wants him to, the league wants him to. The NFL would like nothing better than advertising Michael Vick as their hero. SuperVick!
Mike already holds something like 5 out of the top 6 rushing performances by a quarterback.
Maybe the Falcons should run the option?
NFL Football Fan Question As Michael ages will he get better? Would new coaches make him better?
As always, any NFL Football related comments are welcome.

Here’s a thought: He’s just not that good when it comes to reading coverage and making a pass.
Vick is frustrated. But he is also showing he is a petulant star. He really doesn’t know what he wants. Before the season he said he wanted to run more. Then he gave a string of interviews early in the season where he said he wanted to be a classic pocket passer. His coaches don’t have the answers and neither does Vick. Vick talks adoringly about wanting to get Dan Reeves back. Such nostalgia. Atlanta couldn’t wait to boot Reeves. Arguably, they might have been better off with him still there: he might be able to lecture Vick a bit. Mora can’t do it. (He obviously let his dad know something about Vick though. Vick’s gestures went out and proved old man Mora was right.) Vick needs someone like Mike Martz to design an offense around him.
Wow, you guys are smarter than me. if this make sense, put both your comments together and find a way to harness what Vick does best, run!
When he was trying to pass on 3rd and short against the Lions it made me feel sorry for him. It is the Lions, just run the 2 or 3 yards and get the 1st down.
Maybe we are over-thinking it.
Bring back the single wing!
(James… also… just wanted to thank you for the links in the blogroll… didn’t have another way to do that besides posting here. Actually tried to post in your Leinart commentary but somehow my “thank you” didn’t take!)
Yeah, yeah, yeah - dogs are cute and precious, blah, blah, blah. PETA, PETA, PETA - puppy dogs, rainbows and unicorns…
Michael Vick didn’t kill a human; they were —-dogs - case closed. There have been countless examples of athletes responsible for deaths - Ray Lewis barely avoided murder charges - let alone drunk driving or worse (let’s not even discuss child support).
Now, it has been a long time since junior high but when last I checked, not only were dogs domesticated animals (that fall much lower on the food chain than humans) but we have killed domesticated animals for much lesser crimes. The ASPCA kills tens of thousands of domesticated animals on a weekly basis. Also, when in the —- did PETA become a lobby group in charge of upholding federal policy?
Don’t get me wrong - Pamela Anderson has great —-, but she needs to shut the —-up and just sit there and look pretty. Doesn’t she still have hepatitis or AIDS or something she caught from Kid Rock? Go get therapy —-, and leave Michael Vick alone.
I agree that killing animals for random reasons is cruel; but fine him. Community Service. Any other mundane nonsense that we normally throw at ——– crimes is the categorical reprimand this deserves.
He was making $100M. Can you imagine the good he would have been able to do in the furthering of animals’ rights with his fame and money? Am I on crazy pills or am I the only one who sees this as another step in the wussification of the public perception of justice? Michael Vick should be free - fine him, spank him, cane him, WHATEVER - but jail? WTF! Anyone who thinks this is enough to completely ruin a man’s life, is bat —- insane and should be spayed and neutered because they shouldn’t taint the gene pool.
Michael Vick’s contribution to the game of football is enormously more valuable than the lives of 10,000 dogs and 72 kittens.
I have spoken.

uhh, westpoint, Michael broke the law. That involves jailtime.
The NFL is worried about perception and gambling more than the dogs.
Just what is a contribution to football?
On a more positive note, love your blog.
