Plaxico Burress thinks little of Tom Brady’s talents

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Tom Brady? Does he wear number 23?

Jim CarreyPlax stood up and proudly proclaimed the New York Giants winners of the Super Bowl by the score of 23 - 17.

In and of itself, so what.

But we are not in and of anything. 17 points is just not a lot of points for the highest scoring team ever.

For record setting Tom Brady to be held to only 17 points when he is throwing to record setting Randy Moss is very hard to believe.

Oh no, Plax is from my alumni, Michigan State University. Please, Plax, say you meant 63 to 57. Well, maybe that does not make any sense either.

Barring rain or high winds, conditions should be excellent weather wise for high point scoring. Barring a serious bunch of high ankle sprains, flu, or turnovers, conditions should once again be excellent for high point scoring.

In fact the over and under for lots of points is over.

What about?

Ok, once in a while these big games take on a life of their own and funky things happen.

There was that Jets game.

Thirty-nine years after Namath, another brash New York football star, stood up at the Miami Touchdown Club and guaranteed a stunning New York Jets upset over the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III, …

Namath’s boast, after all, didn’t become legend until he led the American Football League’s Jets to a 16-7 triumph over the NFL’s Colts in the game that likely hastened the merger that brought football into the modern era. source

But that was Joe Willie and your author was a snob for the NFL over the AFL. (even though a huge Joe Willie Namath fan!) And there was that 5 bucks to be paid to my non sports watching best friend who bet on the Jets. Ouch. A lot of money in those days. A lot of money.

Plax could be just the guy to make that score happen. Catching those short slants and medium out routes could help control the game. We have witnessed the Giants surprising team after team in how they could do the little things to control games. It was refreshing to see how the Giants could just play tough football and win.

Anyway, Plax said it. Now it is out there. Tom Brady did not take too kindly to the prediction.

A certain MVP quarterback thinks that’s a Super-sized diss.

Tom Brady scoffed when told Wednesday that New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress guaranteed New York will beat Brady’s undefeated New England team in Sunday’s Super Bowl.

“We’re only going to score 17 points?” Brady said before chuckling about it. “OK. Is Plax playing defense? I wish he had said 45-42 and gave us a little credit for scoring more points.” source

The number 23

Now here is the creepy part. For those of you that watched the movie 23 with Jim Carrey, check this out.

Not that Burress is backing down. He’s done his Joe Namath impersonation off the field, and now he has to come through in similar fashion to what Namath and the New York Jets achieved in 1969: the biggest upset in Super Bowl history.

“Well, 23-17 was the first thing that came to my head,” Burress said.

Then Burress looked at the numbered placard at the table where he was holding court.

“No. 23,” he said. “How do you like that?”

Ok, maybe there is some truth to all this after all.

NFL Football Fan Question Does Plax speaking or Tom Brady not liking it matter at all?

The Giants probably have to hold the Patriots to under 16 if they have any chance of winning
