Tom Brady making more beautiful babies

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Tom Brady has it all and now he has even more of it all. Tom reportedly has another child on the way. This one by gorgeous model Gisele Bundchen. The baby is due sometime early next year.

Tom already has a son, Jack, by another gorgeous babe, Bridget Moynahan. Yes, apparently life is really tough when you are tall, good looking and throw tons of NFL touchdown passes.

The rumor mill has the New England Patriots already finding a way to sign both children, just in case they can throw like daddy.

Late last month, the New England Patriots quarterback said Bundchen was not pregnant. “One is enough,” Brady said on May 28. “I have dogs, and that’s all I need.”

RadarOnline.com previously had reported that Bundchen was telling friends she’s pregnant.

Tom Brady has to watch the knee

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Tom Brady still has a bit of a limp after his knee surgery and that is the least of his problems. Tom has made a career out of short accurate passes, often made at the last possible second to a crossing wide receiver or a back releasing from a block and floating out into the flat.

Think about all the times you have seen the defense close in on Brady and at the last second he fires a 10 yard strike. It gets maddening, but that has made him successful. The minute you play off him and give him time, you will have Randy Moss hauling in a long touchdown pass.

Will Tom Brady be able to take the hits?

Will Tom Brady be able to take the hits?

Now Brady has a new enemy and it is not the defense, well sort of not the defense. The new enemy is his own defense at being hit on the knee. It is a natural defensive action to protect the formerly injured part of your body. If Brady shies away from the hits and throws early, he just won’t be the future Hall of Fame Brady we all are used to.

The unanswerable question for Brady and the Patriots is this: How will Brady react when bodies start flying for real and, inevitably, start landing to close to his repaired knee – particularly when some team or player tests his nerve intentionally? As ugly as it might sound, there’s going to be a time when some defensive lineman or linebacker goes low for Brady, taking a shot not just at Brady’s body, but his mind as well.

While the NFL refined the rules on low hits at the quarterback this offseason, don’t underestimate the willingness of defensive players to test the limits of both the rule and the will of their opponents.

Brady loves football all over again

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Better look out, better not shout, better not pout, because, uhh, Tom Brady is coming to town and you can’t imagine how excited he is to be back in the NFL!

But you can imagine how powerful the New England Patriots will be with Tom Brady back of center instead of that other guy they got rid of from last year. You know, the one that could only give them an 11 - 5 record. Too funny, your team goes 11 - 5 and you are not good enough to keep around.

But poor Tom Brady got married to supermodel Gisele Bundchen in the off season and now triumphantly returns to the NFL.

Tom is loving it.

“I think when you sit on the sidelines for an entire year you realize how much you love it. … You experience things in a much different way, and a way that I never experienced as an athlete,” he said. “I love being out here. I love participating and being around these guys.”

A two-time Super Bowl Most Valuable Player and the NFL MVP in 2007, Brady crumpled to the ground last September when he was tackled in the pocket by Kansas City Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard(notes). He had surgery in October and then another to clear up an infection, and he wore a knee brace under his long sweat pants on Thursday.

“You wake up the next day and think, ‘Was that a dream? Because that’s not really how I thought it was going to go,”’ Brady said. “I think I felt bad for myself that night, and I think I moved on after that. Since then, it’s about trying to get better.”

Maroney played with broken shoulder

May 19, 2009 by James Edwards

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
The New England Patriots are very sly about injuries, never really telling you what the injury is all about. You get injured and a bruise is reported or a soreness, but never the actual extent of the injury.

Now Laurence Maroney is telling us that he had a broken bone in his shoulder last year and tried to play through it. Tried to play through it? How do you play halfback in the NFL and try to plow through the line with a broken bone in your shoulder?

Laurence Maroney will show his toughness this year

Laurence Maroney will show his toughness this year

That is the point. You don’t and consequently Maroney did not play very often and when he did he looked timid at times. This year you will see the real Maroney. Look out!

As for Maroney, Evans believes he ultimately will prove his critics wrong.

“(Laurence) is a tough player. He is one of the best natural running backs I’ve ever seen. I pray he stays healthy so he can show the league what he can do,” Evans said. “We’ve already seen during that ’07 playoff run, five or six games in a row, what he can bring to the table. He was really hitting his stride then. I just love him to death. I can’t wait for him to explode like he’s capable. I just pray he can stay healthy an entire season.”

Bears set to surprise the NFL

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
SI ranks the NFL teams going into next season. The team ranked number one is only a surprise in that they are not the Super Bowl Champion Steelers. No, it is the New England Patriots with Tom Brady back at quarterback and the knee behaving just fine.

The Steelers are ranked number two and the New York Giants are ranked number 3.

Now the big surprise is the Chicago Bears. The Bears, uhh, excuse me, Dah Bears, have always had a great defense with Brian Urlacher and the boys, but now they finally have a quarterback to go with them. Jay Cutler will make the difference and SI has ranked them number 4.

Jay Cutler will help the Bears to the North Division title

Jay Cutler will help the Bears to the North Division title

Just don’t tell Peyton Manning about this.

How good of a leader can Cutler be, coming in with the knock that he chafes on some teammates. It’ll be interesting to see if he meshes well with Brian Urlacher; I don’t take for granted that he will. Because of the Cutler factor and because I don’t love the defense the way I did two or three years ago, I didn’t want to leap the Bears over so many other teams. But then I went back and looked at their 2008 numbers. The bedrock stats for a good defense, I’ve always thought, are opponents yards per rush, turnovers forced and opponents’ yards per pass. The yards per rush, 3.4, was excellent, third-best in the league. Turnovers forced, 32, was very good, second in the league. And yards per pass play by foes, 6.20, was eighth in the league. All good. If Cutler can lead an offense that puts up 400 points, only a point and a fraction more than a year ago, the Bears should win 12.
