Eugene Monroe is drafted by everyone

Yesterday we looked at the fact that Eugene Monroe, the left tackle from Virginia, might be moving down the draft board due to a knee injury.
Today, it is a surprise to find out that a mock draft has moved Eugene Monroe up the ladder. Now he didn’t make it all the way to first, but pretty darn close. This is from a mock draft by Nicholas J. Cotsonika, in the Detroit Free Press on April 19, 2009.
2. St. Louis
Virginia LT Eugene Monroe
The Rams need to replace Orlando Pace. Monroe has great feet and is the best pass protector in the draft.
Where will Eugene Monroe end up?
The first round appears to be a mix and match of the two quarterbacks, Matt Stafford and Mark Sanchez, the two tackles Eugene Monroe and Jason Smith and the two super athletes, linebacker Aaron Curry and wide receiver Michael Crabtree.
Conventional wisdom has it that a quarterback or tackle will go to the number one pick. This is the wisdom even though Aaron Curry seems to be a lock as a NFL superstar.
It seems that 3 positions are crucial at draft time; quarterback, defensive end, and tackle. For Eugene Monroe, this only means he will be drafted somewhere in the top six.

Goodbye Tom Brady and Hello Tony Romo - Power Rankings

Tom Brady walked away without the Power Rankings
Oh what a great day. Not that Tom Brady getting hurt is a good thing. Injuries never are.
But to see the Patriots drop out of the top spot of the Power Rankings is almost as good as seeing them lose to some team like the New York Giants. Oh, that’s right, they did that already. Well, this day just gets better and better.
And as for Matt Cassel, well, give me a break. Who is this guy anyway?
The Cowboys are now listed as number one and that makes Tony Romo the man. Just ask Jessica Simpson.
1 DALLAS COWBOYS Last rank: T2 Total points: 378
Notes: Week 1 rarity: A preseason favorite that looked good. (Seven first-place votes)
2 N.Y. GIANTS Last rank: 4 Total points: 368
Notes: After new deal for Plax, will champs’ distractions subside? (Five first-place votes.)
3 PITTSBURGH STEELERS Last rank: 8 Total points: 345
Notes: Willie Parker won’t yield to Rashard Mendenhall anytime soon.
4 NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS Last rank: 1 Total points: 309
Notes: Disaster strikes. Can Pats salvage playoffs without Tom Brady?

The Giants living off of last year’s glory are holding onto the number two spot. Will that last? Hmm, have my doubts.
The Steelers are back in the playoff picture and holding onto the number 3 spot. Again a precarious position.
My Lions, hold your breath, tied for 30th with the Kansas City Squaws, just edging out the St. Louis Billy Goats. After the pasting they took from the Falcons, they are lucky to still be in the league.

NFL - Top 10 running backs of all time

ESPN lists their Top 10 running backs of all time.
Jim Brown is the big guy on the right

Image details: Jim Brown On The Bench served by picapp.com
1. JIM BROWN
2. BARRY SANDERS
3. WALTER PAYTON
4. EMMITT SMITH
5. GALE SAYERS
6. LADAINIAN TOMLINSON
7. MARSHALL FAULK
8. O.J. SIMPSON
9. LENNY MOORE
10. ERIC DICKERSON
Here is a list of the evaluators for ESPN
By the time all was said and done, Don Shula, Marv Levy, Dan Reeves, Robert Smith, Jerry Richardson, Floyd Reese, Jack Bushofsky and Emmitt Thomas had thrown around nearly four dozen names, debated the merits of runners who had seemed flawless when they entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame and helped pare a list to include only the most elite of the elite.
Jim Brown
Hey, Jim Brown was 6′2″ tall and 232 pounds in an era where a lot of linemen weren’t any bigger. He was fast and elusive. Brown only played for 9 years, but dominated all nine. Think of it, 12,000 yards in his career and they only played a 12 game season!
Barry Sanders
The Barry played for my hapless Lions. Oddly coaches used to pull him near the goal line, because of his small stature. Big mistake. Barry was the Lions for his entire career as they rarely surrounded him with any talent. Barry did not even have a good line in front of him. He was so fun to watch.
Walter Payton and Gale Sayers
The two great Chicago Bears blend in my memory. With power, grace, speed, and elusiveness, it seemed the Chicago Bears had great running backs forever.
Emmitt Smith
Dallas would usually give Emmitt a lead fullback block into a huge offensive line. Emmitt had the knack of making one cut off of the block and accelerating for max yards.
Who is in your top 10?

Miami Dolphins: Chris Long, DE/OLB, Virginia
St. Louis Rams: Jake Long, OT, Michigan
Atlanta Falcons: Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
The Matt Ryan pick is interesting with Atlanta having so many needs.
Miami Dolphins: Chris Long, DE/OLB, Virginia
St. Louis Rams: Jake Long, OT, Michigan
Atlanta Falcons: Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
Draft King also submits that Ryan will go number 3.
Looks like 2 out of 3 doctors of the draft recommend drafting Matt Ryan for the Atlanta Hawks!
NFL Football Fan Question After Adrian Peterson’s success, don’t you think McFadden will go earlier?

Peyton Manning is tops, but what about Marc Bulger?

Ok, go ahead and rev up your brain, because we need to pick apart the QBs in the NFL. There is Fantasy Football coming up and there are teams to draft.
Last year if you took Peyton Manning, you were lucky as he racked up the TDs and the yards. Well, maybe we should not talk about picking Peyton as luck when all of us know he racks up the stats year after year with a consistency not seen by a pro athlete since maybe Hank Aaron in baseball. Going crazy- The Redskins sign Adam Archuleta

As if Brandon Lloyd wasn’t enough.
As if Randel El wasn’t enough.
The Redskins have gone and signed Adam Archelta to a fairly lucrative contract.
I can understand desperate teams like the Browns going wild and signing a ton of guys, but the Redskins? I don’t really get it.
