The Arizona Cardinals are trying to build a franchise image. Matt Leinart is that image.
Uh oh. Coach Ken Wisenhut is not happy. Check out this YouTube.
This just adds fuel to the fire of those calling for Kurt Warner to be the starter.
So what kind of an image are they trying to create?
NFL Football special comment Public Relations is important and Matt Leinart needs to keep this stuff under wraps.

Peyton says the bar has been raised
Why does it seem like there are a handful of great quarterbacks and a large bunch of mediocre quarterbacks?
Ok, great ones.
Tom Brady, no doubt. Accurate as all get out. Rarely leaves the pocket.
Peyton Manning, no doubt. Quick reads. Strong and accurate. Makes big plays.
Brett Favre, some doubt, because he is getting older and has to carry around the NFL record book.
Michael Vick, wait a minute, the NFL wanted him to be great, but he had other ideas.
We thought maybe Marc Bulger or Drew Brees after last year, but it is just not working out that way.

Vince Young and Matt Leinart dream of Magic and Bird

Earvin Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.

Out of sheer luck, your intrepid author happened to go to school at Michigan State University at the same time that Magic Johnson was in school.
My part time job in Lansing was at the YMCA where magic often frequented to help out kids. Magic was even more special in Lansing, than he has been in the world and that is saying something.
In Magic’s freshman year he lost to Kentucky in the NCAA playoffs in a game where MSU had the lead. The NBA came calling and Magic decided not to go. Lucky for Read more
Jon Kitna and the dearth of quarterbacks

This one has been building up in me all week.
It is time to spit it out. There are just not many good quarterbacks anymore. There, it has been said.
Quarterbacks - where are they?
My Lions start Jon Kitna at quarterback. Now in spite of Rex Grossman taking the Bears to the Super Bowl, there is no way Kitna is taking the Lions to the Super Bowl. Even if they had a defense.
Jon Kitna has become the Rony Seikaly of Quarterbacks
Back when Rony was dating the SI Swimsuit model and playing basketball for the Miami Heat there was a list of the centers in my local paper. Your intrepid author will never forget it. Rony was about 10th on the list.
That was not the unforgettable part. What really stood out was that all the centers listed above his name were really really good. You might say, great. All the centers listed below Rony stunk.
Rony was the dividing line. Read more
Matt Leinart is out waxing Levi Brown’s car

Levi Brown says “It is a really nice car, too”
Arizona is one of those teams.
You know the kind. You look on your schedule and say, “Hmm, Arizona on the road, we can win that one”.
They have been one of those teams for quite a while.
But today is a new day and Levi Brown will be playing right tackle and protecting Matt’s blindside.
GM Ken Wisenhunt had this to say. Read more
Brady Quinn & JaMarcus Russell - if you can get a quarterback, take one

Brady says - You need me more than you think. If you can actually think.
We laugh about it. We joke about it. We even wonder about it, but how can the Raiders, Lions, and Browns be so pathetic?
Just today, two people passed my cubicle and one said, “Is he still alive?”
The other one said, “Yeah, maybe we ought to up his dosage.”
No, wait a minute, didn’t mean to mention that.
Another group went by, going on and on about how stupid bad teams are at drafting. If they get burned once, they get major gun shy.

Top 10 secrets to winning the NFL draft

Calvin Johnson says - you must follow the rules and draft me first!
NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Pat Kirwan of NFL.com has put together a list of things to do to have a great draft.
Here is the list with a couple of included explanations by Pat. You will have to read it to get the rest.
1. Don’t take one guy with a character alert.
2. Look for the medical competitive advantage.
3. Don’t pass on a franchise quarterback.
I don’t care if your quarterback’s name is Tom Brady, Peyton Manning or Donovan McNabb. If a signal-caller is there when you’re on the clock, just take him. Look at what the Falcons were able to get in a trade for Matt Schaub. A quarterback is a blue-chip investment. If a team like the Lions pass on a potential franchise QB for the second year in a row and look back a few years from now to see Matt Leinart and Brady Quinn in the Pro Bowl, they will feel the same way the Jets felt when after passing on Hall of Famer Dan Marino. If Oakland had taken Leinart or Jay Cutler last year, it would have been negotiating with Calvin Johnson right now. source
Paris Hilton cost Matt Lienart millions

In the annual buildup to the NFL draft, we find the happenings getting crazier every day as various General Managers try to prove their abilities.
Sadly what happens in a lot of cases is something called the combine flu. A player is timed a split second slower or stands an inch lower or weighs 10 pounds heavier and finds himself dropping on the draft boards.
Brady Quinn has caught the combine flu that… Read more

Why does this happen? You think any teams would love to have Matt Leinart that passed up on him in last year’s draft? Hey, Matt Millen?
Now they are doing it to Brady Quinn.
Listen up folks, it takes a great quarterback.
Let’s see, Colts - great quarterback, Chargers - great young quarterback, Saints - great quarterback, Seahawks - great quarterback, Patriots - great quarterback, Ravens - great quarterback, Eagles - great quarterback and great backup quarterback.
And what about the Bears? Great, uhmm,… Read more

Vince is King of the Rookies
Vince Young. All he did was save Jeff Fisher’s job at Tennessee and make the Titans a threat for the future. He may not have been conventional, but he was Offensive Rookie of the Year!
Vince was only the third quarterback to win the award since it started in 1967. (Roethlisberger won it recently)
Why? Well, it used to be a rookie sat patiently for 3 to 5 years before he got his chance to play.
All that has changed in today’s NFL. High salaries and pro style coaching in college has made quarterbacks much more prepared to start than in the past.
Demeco Ryans
The lesser known Demeco Ryans won the defensive rookie of the year playing for the defensive challenged Houston Texans. All Demeco did was lead the NFL in tackles with 125 and finish second in tackles plus assists with 155. (Zach Thomas had 165)
If you think the defensive rookie of the year is a… Read more
