DeAngelo Williams sends me to defeat

Now you would think with an 8 point lead going into the last game of the Fantasy Football playoffs and Steve Smith of Carolina on my team that victory is in the bag.
But my stinking opponent had DeAngelo Williams in the Carolina vs. Giants game.
Should be no problem, the Giants don’t give up a lot of rushing TDs.
And DeAngelo Williams has no history of scoring tons of TDs. Except this year he went from 4 touchdowns to 18 touchdowns. He is awesome.
Now to be fair to my player, Steve Smith, a perennial All Pro, if the game was this week instead of last week then victory would have been mine, but that is not what happened. Smith does have 43 receiving touchdowns in his career.
Williams had 4 touchdowns and over 100 yards against the Giants and 34 fantasy points and the Squibster lost and upset bid at first place.
Here are their report cards from Charles Chandler of the Charlotte Observer.
RUNNING BACKS – A
DeAngelo Williams continued his late-season roll, making some amazing cuts. His 178 yards tied him for the second best single-game rushing performance in team history, and he also set a new single-season team record (1,515). Jonathan Stewart (56 yards) ran hard, too, getting away from four tacklers on a 16-yard gain. He also scored a TD. Kudos to fullback Brad Hoover for another good game blocking.RECEIVERS/TIGHT ENDS – A
Steve Smith saved the day again with his acrobatic catch of a 39-yard pass to set up John Kasay’s game-winning field goal. Muhsin Muhammad had his third consecutive game with 70 or more receiving yards, and D.J. Hackett pitched in with two key catches after being inactive the previous three games.

David Carr would like to remain standing

David Carr is lying down on the job, even as Tully Banta-Cain tries to get his attention
When David Carr goes to sleep, he lies down.
When David Carr plays football, he gets knocked down.
He gets knocked down a lot.
Carr averages getting sacked 50 times a year. That is a lot. In fact it is too much.
No more is that going to happen. He found a way to improve his pass protection. Read more
Tiki Barber and the New York Giants may yet see the Playoffs

Tiki Barber says to hold on there, it may be playoff time
As hard as it is to believe, the New York Giants, losers of 6 out of their last 7, may still make the playoffs with a victory over the Washington Redskins, themselves losers of 5 out of their last 8.
This would be great for Tiki Barber, thus extending his career for possibly a few more games.
Perhaps the luckiest of the possible Wild Card berths is… Read more
Playboy Playmate Carmella Decesare - her man, Jeff Garcia, the Hero of NFL Monday Night Football

Our hero and girlfriend Carmella Decesare
The Philadelphia Eagles tightened the race for the wild card by beating the Carolina Panthers 27 - 24.
The list of possible heroes in this game is endless. There was rookie DeAngelo Williams slicing all over the field, not just running, but catching the ball too. He has really come on as of late. There was Superstar Steve Smith making ridiculous catches and scoring a great touchdown. There was Donte Stallworth hauling in an awesome bomb. Bryant Westbrook touching the ball on almost every play it seemed. Keyshawn Johnson catching his 800th career NFL pass. Julius Peppers practically taking the Philadelphia long snaps. But in the end, it was Jeff Garcia.
My mind goes back to… Read more
Steve Smith of Carolina is too much for the Bucs

Steve Smith pushes the Bucs aside
If there is one receiver that you do not want to face in a big game, it is Steve Smith, as he proved to be too elusive for the Tampa Bay defense.
Carolina beat the Bucs 24 - 10 in a game that was less and less in doubt as the night wore on.
The Panthers were trying to erase a pattern that has developed this year. In 7 games they have went into the second half with leads and blown 3 of those games. In those 7 games they were outscored 104 to 42 in the second half.
Tampa Bay struck first with a touchdown pass to Ike Hilliard. Earlier Gradkowski had missed a long pass to Joey Galloway for what would have been a touchdown.
Grad got a little cocky and ended up throwing an interception in the end zone and another one close to the 5 yard line, following a Ronde Barber interception.
But the night belonged to Steve Smith. He had 8 receptions for 149 yards. It was the 13th 100+ yard game for Smith since the beginning of the 05 season, leading the NFL.
In the post game interview, when asked about feeling sick with the flu in the second half, Steve had this to say:
“My little girl was sick,” Smith said, “and so, and she’s a daddy’s girl, kissing on me and so — I got the flu. What happens in the house just goes around the parents.” source
Julius Peppers had 3 sacks and a fumble recovery in this game.
Shout Outs A big Shout Out to RonB, Lion Fan, Spartan Fan, and best friend. A true Klingon warrior.
Carolina still has work to do in order to improve. Their running game only netted 80 yards, not nearly enough to start talking playoff team.
NFL Football Fan Question Carolina is back in contention in the NFC South, tied with the Falcons and one game down to the Saints. Do the Panthers have the second half letdown jinx beat? Can they win the division?
