Even though Plaxico Burress shot himself and is now out for the season, the New York Giants remain the 2008 Super Bowl favorite. They play very good defense and their offense, led by Peyton’s brother Eli Manning, is good with or without Plaxico.
2. Tennessee Titans
A lot of people are overlooking the Titans, even though they have only lost one time this season. True, their passing game is ugly to watch. True, their defense might be overrated.

1. New York Giants

But they are a very rugged team with a solid running game and one of the best coaches in the league in Jeff Fisher.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers are a lot like the Titans. They rely on their ruggedness to out-brute their opponents. They’ve had to overcome a lot of injuries but they remain a team that no one wants to play come the postseason.

4. Indianapolis Colts
Though they’ve looked downright putrid at times this season, the Colts are definitely still a contender. Peyton Manning, even if he isn’t the best Manning in football right now, is a fine quarterback. They also have recent Super Bowl experience and they have enough tools to make a run.

5. Dallas Cowboys
Tony Romo missed a while with a wittle broken pinkie but now that he as wiped away the tears and is back on the field, the Cowboys are once again legitimate Super Bowl contenders. Their offense is very good with Romo in the backfield and their defense has enough youthful exuberance to continue to get better between now and the beginning of the playoffs. As long as Jessica Simpson stays away, they’ll have a chance.
