Currently, Terry and the Mavs are playing the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the 2009 NBA playoffs. The Mavs are up 2-1 against the Spurs and the fourth game between the two Texas teams is on Saturday.

Despite coming off the bench, Terry was second on the Mavs in scoring. Only Dirk Nowitzki’s 25.9-point scoring average was higher. Terry led the team in three-pointers made (167) and three-pointers attempted (456).

The other players in the NBA who received first place votes in the balloting were J.R. Smith of the Denver Nuggets, Nate Robinson of the New York Knicks, Lamar Odom of the Los Angeles Lakers, Travis Outlaw of the Portland Trail Blazers, Manu Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs and Ronald “Flip” Murray of the Atlanta Hawks. Terry received 111 of the 121 first place votes.

Jason Terry Wins Sixth Man of the Year

In the season, Rose averaged 16.8 points and 6.3 assists in 37 minutes per game. He shot 47.5% from the field and 78.8% at the free throw line. He, also was able to stay healthy, playing in 81 of the team’s 82 games.

In the playoffs, Rose has been even better. In his first postseason game of his career, Rose scored 36 points and dished off 11 assists against the defending champion Boston Celtics. The Bulls were able to win that game by a final score of 105-103.

Currently, Rose is preparing for Game 3 of the first round series against the Celtics with the series tied 1-1.

OJ Mayo of the Memphis Grizzlies finished second in the 2009 NBA Rookie of the Year voting, followed by Brook Lopez, Russell Westbrook and Eric Gordon.
