Watchmen: The End Is Nigh

Players (you can play as either Rorscach or Nite Owl) must answer the call and save their city from crime, terror and Underboss, who has broken out of prison. 

The action in this superhero-type game is undeniable as you can take on up to 20 enemies at a time using street-fighting moves.  You can also engage in multiplayer, split-screen mode.

This action game was released on March 4, 2009 and has been given a rating of M (Mature) due to blood, strong language and violence.  It currently can be downloaded for 1600 Microsoft points.

Xbox LIVE Arcade Game – “Watchmen: The End is Nigh”

This Xbox LIVE Arcade game is in the Action & Adventure and Role Playing categories and is rated T (Teen) due to blood, gore, cartoon violence and crude humor.  Offline 1-4 can play but online multiplayer mode allows 2-4 gamers to play.

The world of Ancaria is driven by it’s magical source, T Energy, which has been watched over by Seraphim,who has the fate of the world in his hands. Sacred 2: Fallen Angel on XBox 360

In the game, an unexplained explosion unleashes the wrath of the all-powerful Alma Wade who must be stopped by Special Forces Sgt. Michael Becket and his squad.  When I read the description of what has to be done in order to progress, I was completely convinced this game was too scary.  Keep reading after checking out these screenshots:

The graphics are great, you can play in multiplayer mode and you basically will have to rely on your strategic skills to navigate your way through the game.  The scariest part?  You’ll be expected to face your fears by battling new characters and unraveling “a terrifying mystery.”

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin Now on Xbox 360

The game has a lot to offer allowing players to choose from eight epic battles from the films as the hero or nine campaigns for the evil side.  Wow!  You will get to answer the question: "What if Sauron stopped Frodo from destroying the One Ring?" As a fan of the trilogy, I’ve always thought about that so I’m looking forward to trying to solve that mystery through gameplay. 

Some of the other game features include the ability to make the characters perform a melee and ranged combat.  There are specialty classes too (including Mages and Scouts) for the player who wants to hone his or her skills.

The game takes place in familiar locales, allowing games to “jump into epic battles across Pelennor Fields, Helm’s Deep, Minas Tirith, The Black Gate” and, incredibly, “even the Shire.”

The multiplayer action is also cool.  You can have up to three friends playing through split-screen action in the same room (competitively or cooperatively) and up to 16 players can connect online.

The Lord of the Rings: Conquest on Xbox 360

World in Conflict: Soviet Assault is available on Xbox 360 as of today and I have to say that I love what I’ve seen.  It’s definitely a first-person shooter game but it does require a good amount of strategy and obviously, action.  I’m not really one for these types of games but the gameplay and effects in the trailer looks realistic, which appeals to me. 

The plot centers around the main characters (American) battling in a Soviet-led World War III.  You can engage in a single player campaign but you can also participate in intense online team-based multiplayer battles.

The game, which is currently retailing for $59.99 on Amazon promises non-stop action and Microsoft claims the game blends and mixes genres by pleasing strategy, action and FPS game fans.  Watch a trailer:

World in Conflict: Soviet Assault On Xbox 360

Lego Batman: The Video Game is fantastic!!!  I wasn’t a huge fan of the Star Wars or Indiana Jones Lego games (they were fine but were either too hard or too easy) but this game, so far, is just perfect.  It’s cooperative so you’ve got to figure out what each character should be doing and sometimes you need to decide on what suit your character should wear.  You can play as a hero or a villain (I really just like playing Batman but Catwoman is pretty awesome too).  I think it’s worth trying.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe elicited screams and yells on Christmas morning as my son unwrapped it and figured out what it was.  The gameplay is what you would expect from both an MK or DC Comics game so there aren’t really many surprises there.  The main thing is basically that it’s fun to make these two groups face-off against each other.  It’s also pretty straight-forward to play so that’s a real bonus.

My oldest child is notoriously picky and even slightly boring in her choice of video games.  She normally sticks to puzzle games or things like Pac-Man so I was not overly optimistic when she decided to give  Mirror’s Edge a try.  Surprisingly, she liked it.  She thought the controls were easy to figure out and, naturally, loved the fact that it was a quest-type game with a female character in the main role.  For myself, the jumping, wall-walking and acrobatic moves are a bit too nauseating so, if you’re at all prone to motion-sickness, don’t even attempt to play this game.

You’re in the Movies was the biggest hit of them all in our house.  The are issues with the game (like the background needs to be perfect in order for the game to not eliminate entire portions of your body and players really need to be almost the same height) but, overall, it’s a real crowd-pleasure.  Even my 81-year-old grandmother got up and did 4 rounds to make a movie of her own.  Not that was a sight!  I highly recommend this game.  I’ll write a more detailed review soon.

Rise of the Argonauts on Xbox 360

I love that for some games but I’m not sure how I will feel about this.  When it’s sort of an action-adventure quest game, I like a linear progression so I will have to play this to really get a sense of what it means for the gameplay. 

Either way, I think it’s cool that, as a native Montrealer (I live elsewhere now), this game was produced in Montreal by Ubisoft which is a big accomplishment.  Just for that, I will give the game a shot :)
