Alex Rios Claimed on Waiver Wire

After the Toronto Blue Jays put Alex Rios on waivers, another team claimed the right fielder. Now the Blue Jays can either trade Rios to that team, reclaim him or let him walk.
Putting players on waivers at this point of the baseball season is a common practice. The idea is that if the player clears waivers, he is able to be traded — which, in effect, lengthens baseball’s trade deadline.
