After his sudden departure from the Memphis Grizzlies, Allen Iverson may sign with another NBA team quicker than most people thought.
According to SI.com, the president of the New York Knicks is planning to make a move in order to get Iverson to New York. Donnie Walsh confirmed yesterday that he is interested in signing the former league MVP. Apparently Iverson is interested in playing for Mike D’Antoni and living in the Big Apple.
What I don’t understand is that the Knicks passed on Iverson over the summer. So why are they interested in him now? Probably because their season is already …read more
Allen Iverson Leaves the Memphis Grizzlies

It was just a couple weeks ago that Allen Iverson was talking about how happy he was with the Memphis Grizzlies. But after only three games, the Allen Iverson Era is over in Memphis. The Grizzlies and IVerson agreed to buyout the remainder of his one-year contract that was worth approximately $3 million.
The main reason why Iverson didn’t like Memphis was that the team planned to use him off the bench. He came off the bench in each of the three games and averaged 12.3 points and 3.7 assists in 22.3 minutes per game.
With Memphis building around the backcourt of …read more
Iverson Contemplating Retirement
November 9, 2009 by Lyndsey D'Arcangelo

Considering the latest off-court drama, it’s no surprise that Allen Iverson is contemplating retirement. The 14-year NBA veteran took a bit of a hiatus from the Memphis Grizzlies this past weekend in order to deal with “family issues.”
There were also rumors circulating that “The Answer” is frustrated and discontent with his new reserve role for Memphis. Iverson is used to being the star and the go-to player. He’s not used to coming off the bench in a supporting role.
But this is the way it is, and Iverson isn’t the player he used to be. Somehow, his selfishness and ego have …read more
Allen Iverson Injury Update – Hamstring

Allen Iverson missed the end of last season due to injury. To begin his 2009-10 NBA campaign, Iverson is again injured. An MRI has diagnosed the former MVP was a partially torn hamstring and he’s expected to be out about three weeks.
If Iverson does indeed miss three weeks, it’ll be a close call if he’ll be ready for the season opener. On October 28th, the Memphis Grizzlies begin their season with a home game against the Detroit Pistons.
Iverson has said that he’ll take his time getting healthy to ensure that this hamstring problem doesn’t continually bother him for the duration …read more

The Memphis Grizzlies have been the leading candidate to sign Allen Iverson for a while now. On Monday, Iverson to the Grizzlies will get a step closer when Iverson visits with Memphis owner Michael Heisley. Both parties confirmed the meeting recently — although Heisley said that the meeting doesn’t necessarily mean a signing is imminent.
On Twitter, Allen Iverson (@allenIverson) explained: “I am looking forward to meeting the owner of the Memphis Grizzlies on tomorrow, along with his staff. I want to help them develop a winner.”

Where Will Allen Iverson End Up?
August 26, 2009 by Stephen Kersey
Allen Iverson, once regarded as one of the best players in the NBA, is still an unrestricted free agent. The fact that Iverson is having a difficult time finding work is a surprise to many — especially considering that Iverson averaged 26.4 points per game as recently as the 2007-08 season.
However, with training camp just around the corner, three teams have emerged as the leading contenders for Iverson: the Memphis Grizzlies, Charlotte Bobcats and Miami Heat.
The Grizzlies appear to be the favorite at this point. On Wednesday, the team admitted that they had officially made an offer to Iverson. NBA …read more
Iverson Close To A Deal With Charlotte

If you asked Allen Iverson five years ago if he ever pictured himself playing for the Charlotte Bobcats, he might have laughed in your face.
Now, if Iverson wants to have a chance to play basketball for the 2009-2010 season he’s going to have to take whatever he can get. And that’s no laughing matter.
SI.com reports that Iverson is close to signing a deal with Charlotte. There are a few “complications” that need to get ironed out.
I find it interesting that Iverson is going to be reunited with coach Larry Brown. Again, if you asked Iverson five years ago if he …read more

Allen Iverson: I’d Rather Retire
April 2, 2009 by Stephen Kersey

Allen Iverson is currently coming off the bench for the Detroit Pistons. Iverson, who has long said he doesn’t enjoy coming off the bench, recently said that he’d rather retire than sign with an NBA team who wants him to play from off the bench.
This summer, Iverson will become a free agent. It sounds like his main request in the upcoming offseason is to find a team that will let him start. Considering that he’s undersized, 33-years-old and has taken more than his share of bumps and bruises, it may not be easy for a team to guarantee Iverson a …read more
Allen Iverson Video – No Practice Answer

Who can forget the classic video of Allen Iverson at the end of this entry? That AI video is one of the greatest sound clips in NBA history. “Practice. We talking about practice?” Classic.
Just when we though Iverson would have outgrown his childish ways, he pulled a classic Iverson move on Thanksgiving — he skipped practice. While the rest of his teammates got up early and headed over to the gym, Iverson apparently thought he was too good for that and instead decided to skip it.
How much do you think Joe Dumars wishes he could take back that trade now? …read more
