Oh, what I would give to be at the GC Developers Conference in Leipzig, Germany… You know why? Because there has got to be a vast showing of all things adventure gaming. I mean, it is Germany, afterall. And they do love them some adventure games.

That’s why I’m not at all surprised that the German developer and publisher, dtp/Anaconda, has come out with a full list of games that they will be showing. And what’s better? They’re all adventure games! According to Kotaku, dtp/Anaconda will be demoing or allowing users to play the following games:

  • Gray Matter
  • Mata Hari
  • Windchaser
  • Drakensang: The Dark Eye.
  • So Blonde
  • Memento Mori
  • Undercover: Dual Motives (this one is for the DS)
  • Legend: Hand of God
  • Overclocked

If you’re an adventure game lover, then it would appear that these are exciting times in the adventure game world!

A couple of months ago, I announced here that dtp/ANACONDA games was due to release a brand new adventure gaming thriller called Overclocked. Now not only do we have an announcement, but according to GameBoomers, we also have lots and lots of screenshots. And what loverly screenshots they are. They definitely give an air of darkness, which ultimately leads to games being called “thrillers”.

Now, what you’ve all been waiting for… pictures to look at:

Just how I like starting all of my picture entries with… half naked women in their underwear!

The German version of the game is said to be out in October of 2007, while the English version is due at the beginning of the new year.

So Blonde entices gamers

There are, yet again, more pictures and news for dtp Entertainment/ANACONDA’s game, So Blonde, according to this here article on ANACONDA’s site. It sounds like ANACONDA is trying pretty hard to make this game one of those classic point and clicks that we all know and love. The ones with wit and humor, which recently have come too far in between. It seems to me that most of these game developers lately have been making their adventure games dark and mysterious, so it’s always refreshing to get a laugh out of a new game.

soblonde02.jpg

So Blonde developers also plan on paying homage to classic adventure games, such as the ones put out by LucasArts. Take a look:

Several kinds of mini games will freshen up the classical point & click gameplay of So Blonde. Amongst others, there will be a homage to the LCD games of the 1980’s. But, for the complete adventure game, the mini games will amount only a small part of the playing time. Also, the level of difficulty of these mini games will be low enough that even unexperienced players will have the chance to go through them quickly.

Okay… so, we get mini-games, too, which are always cool, because it takes your brain away from some of those puzzles you just can’t wrap your mind around. And anything to make a game a little bit longer is pretty awesome in my book. Except if the game is so long that you want to shoot yourself in the head, because the game will NEVER END, even though you’ve put well over a million hours into the game. That’s just craziness right there.

There is a lot more new information on the game on ANACONDA Games website.

ANACONDA/dtp entertainment is at it again!

I’m starting to get the feeling that adventure gaming is stepping out of the stigmata of being a genre of that past, especially when we have companies like ANACONDA and dtp entertainment who just love publishing adventure games. That’s right… word is out that ANACONDA Games is going to publish yet another adventure game. Memento Mori, which is a game about an art deal with an image of the Angel of Death that’s gone horribly wrong. You play two Russian police detectives who must find out who took three valuable pieces of art. Here is a quick breakdown of the game as summarize by Adventure Gamers:

The title comes from the Latin phrase that roughly translates as “remember you are mortal”. In the game, its relevance stems from a centuries-old belief that the Angel of Death becomes visible in some paintings when seen on the verge of death. A relatively unknown order from Finland has vowed to keep these paintings out of the public eye by any means necessary, and when three paintings are stolen from the St. Petersburg Hermitage, the circumstances suggest that this order is behind the heist.

The game is being developed by the Russian development company Centauri Production and is due to be out early 2008. If you want to read more info on the game, go on over to this post at Adventure Gamers or this article by Gameboomers.

Now For a Look At Some Gray Matter…

No, I’m not going to show you pictures of any brains, though that would be funny, wouldn’t it? It might be a little gross, but wouldn’t it be weird if someone who wrote about adventure games put nasty assed pictures of gray matter (aka braaaaaiiiiins) on her blog? But, I’ll try not to do something so horrible and repulsive. I’m a good girl. Instead, I will show you some screenshots from the Jane Jensen game, which is also currently title Grey Matter. Oh, yes… you know you want to see some screenshots, right? Well, here we go:

Doesn’t that look loverly? It gives me the same dark feelings that Gabriel Knight did. I mean, not like the “I want to kill people” dark feelings, but an over all sense of mystery.

According to ANACONDA’s site, who happen to be the people publishing the game, Gray Matter should be out sometime in the first quarter of 2008.

I giveth my thanks to those lovely people at GameBoomers for the images. You can read their entry on the topic here.]

Anaconda Making News Again…

Wow, it’s been a good news week for German game developers ANACONDA. First, they update us about a new game coming out called Overclocked and now there’s more news about their light hearted adventure game So Blonde. I posted about this game a while back, but now we have pictures to go with the story! So, take a look:

Now, you have to admit that those screenies look pretty bad assed. The graphics are absolutely beautiful! And the storyline sounds just as funny… here’s a tidbit:

It’s her task to master lunatic adventures – and to save, for example, her MP3 player from the depths of the scary voodoo temple. Seems easy, but the natives regard it as a holy gift from the gods…

Dude… the MP3 player isn’t worth it if you’re going up against angry natives that may be cannibals.

The game is due to hit German speaking fans in November 2007. No news yet when an English version will be released.

New Game From Anaconda Games: Overclocked

I got an email today about a press release from the German gaming company called Anaconda Games. Apparently, they are going to be putting out a new game, Overclocked, and man, does it sound like a hell of a game! Now, if you guys remember correctly, Anaconda is also going to be putting out the new Jane Jensen (writer of the Gabriel Knight series… as if you didn’t know.), Grey Matter, so these guys at Anaconda are really turning out the bad assed adventure games.

Here’s a quick overview of the game, found on Anaconda’s site:

US army combat psychiatrist David Mc Namara has been hit hard since retiring from active duty: struggling with mysterious choleric attacks and a marriage in crisis, he is now called to New York for his expertise in forensic psychiatry. At the Staten Island Forensic Hospital he is to attend to five young men and women, who were found screaming, scared, with no memory or orientation across New York City. Dave begins to cautiously explore the memories of his young patients – and makes alarming discoveries. The game’s exceptional approach: players not only take over the role of Dave McNamara, who investigates in the present, but also will take control of the five patients in flashbacks.

Now, doesn’t that sound awesome? Except for the whole choleric attack thing. At first, I thought choleric attacks were maybe bouts of diarrhea caused by cholera, but apparently I was wrong. Would that suck to be a psychiatrist with patients and you suddenly got a case of the squirts? But that’s not the case with this word. Apparently it means “easily angered”. See, you come to this blog and get to talk about diarrhea and learn words that I didn’t know the meanings to! Wow! It’s funny AND educational.

Apparently the game was featured over at the 2006 Games Convention, which is weird, because today was the first day I’ve heard of it… Maybe I need to pay more attention to my adventure game surroundings! So, here’s a trailer, which is in German (and if you can read German, please tell me that the words make the game sound awesome, because the graphics alone are pretty sweet assed):

The game is due to be out in December of 2007.

New Adventure Game for Blondes

If you’re blonde and you like pirates and buccaneers, then I might have just the game for you. According to this article on Anaconda’s website, a new game called So Blonde is set to hit the world like a loud pop of the breast implants. Wow, that was a weird analogy. Oh well, let’s just go with it. The man behind the game, Steve Ince (the same man responsible for the Broken Sword series), has quite the little adventure planned out for our adventuring blonde, Sunny Blonde. Really… does she have to be so blonde that her last name is Blonde? That’s over doing it a little, don’t ya think? GEEZE.

Sunny Blonde is said to be a rich girl who is more interested in partying with her friends than celebrating her parent’s anniversary on a cruise ship. Things go awry, as they always do on cruise ships, when a huge storm hits the ship, causing Sunny to pass out. After passing out, her lifeless body is put onto a life boat and when she awakes, Sunny is on an island. A deserted island. Except it isn’t so deserted, because it would seem that Sunny has been transported back centuries to the time of pirates and buccaneers. Why doesn’t cool stuff like that ever happen to me?

soblond11.jpg

So, how will Sunny get by without a mall, a cellphone, makeup or hair dye? How will she ever get away from the totally stinky pirates? I guess we’ll have to wait… and see.

So Blonde has a November release date for the German speaking citizens of the world. There isn’t any word yet on the English version, but I can only guess it won’t be far behind.
