Anderson Silva moving to heavyweight?

Anderson Silva apparently isn’t content bouncing between middleweight and light heavyweight. A report from Sports Illustrated recently stated that the 185 pound champion wants to move up to heavyweight and compete with the big boys. The fighter SI claims Silva has his eye on: Frank Mir, who beat Silva’s friend and training partner Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira back at UFC 92.
This is pretty crazy news, but Anderson has been chasing a challenge for the past two years and hasn’t been able to find one even after taking a few fights at light heavyweight. Not only should fights at heavyweight satisfy that …read more

Silva crushes Griffin at UFC 101

BJ Penn defended his lightweight title last night against Kenny Florian at UFC 101, but the biggest story coming out of the night is the complete destruction of Forrest Griffin by middleweight champ Anderson Silva.
Silva was taking his second dip into the light heavyweight division after starching everyone at middleweight, and many thought the crafty former light heavyweight champ Griffin would use his size to give him trouble. But Silva didn’t take one serious shot in the whole fight and finished things at 3:23 of the first round with a quick jab that put Griffin on his back where he …read more

UFC 101 Preview: Silva vs Griffin

One of the most overlooked fights of the year is about to take place this Saturday at UFC 101: UFC 185 pound champ Anderson Silva will be moving up to 205 pounds to take on the original TUF winner, Forrest Griffin. The fight is more than just another toe in the light heavyweight waters for Silva. It’s also a match designed by the UFC to try and force him to actually fight, something he hasn’t really done in his last two fights.
Let’s go back a year to August 2008 for a second. Anderson Silva was one of the most feared …read more

Silva Moves Up To 205 To Take On Griffin

Anderson Silva will move up in weight class to take on Forrest Griffin at UFC 101 in August in Philadelphia. Silva has defended his middleweight title 5 times in the UFC, not counting his non-title fight against Travis Lutter in 2007. Silva has won 9 consecutive fights in the UFC, to include as first round win over James Irvin in his Light heavyweight debut in July of last year. Now he’s moving back in to the light-heavyweight ranks for the moment to fight TUF season 1 winner and former LHW champ Forrest Griffin.

UFC 97: Silva And Leites Go 5 Rounds

I really wanted to watch Last night’s UFC 97 pay-par-view but I had family in town and I couldn’t. Upon reading the results this morning I was kind of disappointed with the results.
Some  people say that WEC fighters aren’t of the same caliber of UFC fighters. When you see some of the top WEC contenders that transitioned to the UFC after the weight class change lose, it’s almost hard to disagree.

Elliot Marshall defeated Vinicius Magalhaes by unanimous decision after three rounds. It appears that Vinny Magalhaes still has a lot to work on when it comes to his stand …read more

UFC 97 Weigh In Open To Public

MMAFighting reports that the weigh in for UFC 97 in Montreal will be open to the public at the Belle Center. Weigh Ins will also likely be aired on Cable and Satellite TV networks as they usually are.
I’m still up in the air whether I’m going to order the PPV. I want to see the fight but times are tough all over and I’m not sure if I want to spend the money just yet. It’s such a great card it’s hard to think about NOT watching it. Once again, here is the fight card.

Chuck Liddell’s UFC 97 Video Blog

UFC 97 is this Saturday, even thought ever pay per view event is being overshadowed right now by UFC 100, and there are some great bouts. Anderson Silva wants to make up for his “Poor performance” against Patrick Cote from last fall and he wants to defend his title and Thales Leites. The Countdown to UFC 97 started last night on Spike TV and I think it’s running all this week at 11pm Est. Chuck Liddell is out to prove that his UFC and championship days are not numbered as he takes on Mauricio Rua. I’d like to see Chuck …read more

Liddell Vs. Silva At UFC 95?

Word flowing through the rumors mill these days are that Anderson Silva may be fighting Chuck Liddell at UFC 95 in February. Liddell has only won 1 of his last 4 fights, so why would they throw him in there with someone who hasn’t lost a fight in the UFC, granted this would be a Light-heavyweight bout?
Sure it will be a "Highly anticipated fight", but if Silva is going to move up in weight class, why would they start him off against Liddell. Perhaps they want to see if he is just as good a fighter in a higher weight …read more

Anderson "The Spider" Silva Wins At UFC 90 By TKO Over Cote

Normally if the ref stops an Anderson Silva fight and he wins by TKO it’s usually because the opposing fighter has been overwhelmed by Silva’s game and can not intelligently defend himself. This time around though, it was slightly different but Silva will take the win regardless.
