Del Potro Beats Roddick at Legg Mason

Argentina’s Juan Martin Del Potro emerged the victor at the Legg Mason Tennis Classic after he beat top-seeded American, Andy Roddick, 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) in the final yesterday. Roddick has won this event three times in the past (2001, 2005 and 2007) but his experience wasn’t enough to hold off Del Potro, last year’s winner. This is the first time this event was won back-to-back by the same person since Andre Agassi did it back in 1998-1999.

Roddick Puts Pain, Wimbledon Behind Him

Andy Roddick did everything he could to win at Wimbledon this year. He battled Roger Federer into one of the longest Wimbledon finals in history and left everything he had on the court. Unfortunately, he suffered a hip injury in the process. Fortunately, the 26-year-old is putting it all behind him.

Roddick Withdraws From Indy With Injury

Andy Roddick’s right hip flexor injury continues to plague him and now the tennis star has had to withdraw from the upcoming tournament in Indianapolis. He won the Indy title in both 2003 and 2004.
Indianapolis tournament director, Kevin Martin, weighed in on the development: “We are obviously very disappointed that Andy will not be able to return to Indianapolis, but we support his decision 100 percent to put his health first. Roddick Pulls Out of Davis Cup

It looks like Andy Roddick suffered more than a bruised ego during his loss to Roger Federer at this year’s Wimbledon finals. If you saw the match, you’ll know that Roddick seemed to give everything he had in his attempt to win the tournament and now it appears that he suffered an injury to his right hip flexor in the process. The picture below is from the match so you have to wonder if this was the moment when he hurt himself. Either way, he never let it show and he fought a great battle.
