For anime and manga lovers who are old enough to remember Saint Seiya or Knights of the Zodiac, they should be glad that a MMORPG centered around Saint Seiya called Saint Seiya Online will be released by Sega this year.
In China, the online game was named 圣斗士OL and is already in beta. From the prizes (from PSP to MP3 players) that the Chinese players can get during this beta testing period, we reckon that Saint Seiya Online will attract new fans who have no idea who is Athena or Masami Kurumada.

Cosfest VII: Super Henshin, organized by Singapore Cosplay Club and SCC Square has just ended with a bang. The 2-day cosplay event (5th and 6th July) was one of the major cosplay events in Singapore. I attended Day 2 of the great event and was very impressed by the great turnout of the cosplayers, the audience and the Papparazzi (photographers).
One of the most impressive cosplays was Clive’s Gundam Exia (GN-001).
I was lonely.
Don’t hide behind my back.
I sure win one.
Babes attract to me.
I’m kewl.

A new Singapore startup, Comiqs, has just came up with an online application that let you turn your photos into comic-panel-styled flash widget that can be embedded anywhere in your online properties. Simply, this application let you choose your photos, make it into a comic panel, with speech bubbles and lame captions attached. I’ve tested the application last night at an event and I gave this tool a two thumbs up. It works with your Flickr account (soon with Facebook).

The Jap are crazy (to the level of “Otakuness”) over anime and robots but using work hours to edit Wikipedia on Gundam doesn’t garner much approval.
Japan’s Agriculture Ministry reprimanded six bureaucrats after an internal probe found they spent work hours contributing to Wikipedia on topics unrelated to farm issues — including 260 entries about cartoon robots.
“The Agriculture Ministry is not in charge of Gundam,” said ministry official Tsutomu Shimomura.

In Japan, voice acting or seiyu (声优)work is big business. Many voice actors and actresses are regarded as shining idols in Japan. Houko Kuwashima, capable of doing voice acting for young boys, old men to kawaii girls and feminine women, is the voice role for Kasumi, again, in Dead or Alive Online (A DOA online game by Tecmo Japan and Shanda China). And yap, her singing is nice too. Check out her number in anime, Gundam Seed Destiny, below.
