Summer Olympic Sports: Archery

Archery has been a part of 13 Olympic Games. It began in Paris in 1900, but was discontinued between 1920 and 1972.
Today’s Olympic archery consists of individual men’s and women’s competitions as well as men’s and women’s team events. Since archery was re-added to the Olympics in 1972, South Korea has dominated the sport, with a total of 25 medals. The United States is a distant second with 13 medals.
In Beijing, the archery competitions will take place on the Olympic Green Archery Field, an outdoor venue with a seating capacity of 5380.

With the interesting facts about sprinter Justin Gatlin, Archery, and getting into the Olympics, the article was an entertaining read.
It gave some insights on the process on how athletes get to compete in the Olympics. I need it since I’m not overly exposed on the matter.

Honestly, I was silently laughing at first when I came across an article over at BBC, which basically told me about a quaint blogger with a genuine desire to win a place in any country’s Olympic Team and raise a £1m for charity in the process.
This blogger, Jonathan Phillips, is reported to have “limited sporting talent” but is considering Archery as his best bet since it’s the only discipline, which is “neither dangerous, involves leotards or is a fitness based sport.”
