The word on the street—which is kind of an empty saying for us since we live on a cul-de-sac in a suburban condo development—is that Playboy Bunny Kendra Wilkinson is dating Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Hank Baskett.

Perez Hilton makes the Baskett case using Kendra’s own <strike>beyond pathetic attempt to use the English language</strike> blog post, where the bimbo reminds us that love is a beautiful thing. (”That she’s probably only read about it books,” we wanted to add, until we realized the likelihood of her having read one in the last decade is slimmer than the cast of the new 90210).

Cross your fingers for the temporary success of this relationship, folks. Two words: Blog foddah.

Come on, who wouldn’t want one of Hugh Hefner’s throwaways? Baskett has one mighty big smoking jacket to fill. And maybe some wide receiver jokes to live down.

P.S. No word on Eagles fan/Spygate witch hunter extraordinare Senator Arlen Specter’s reaction . . . but we’d sure like to hear it!)

Here’s the rest of the scoop on Randy Moss, who did indeed just sign a 3-year, $27M deal with the New England Patriots.

The record-setting wide receiver also posted a “message to the fans” on his web site:

“I want to take time out to thank all of the fans for their support and for wishing me well in my return to New England. I’m ready to get back. We have some unfinished business to take care of.”

We have a liking for that last sentence in particular (so much so that we’re willing to overlook the no-no of ending it with a preposition). It makes us want to slip back into our Belichick hoodie.

Super Bowl aside, let’s not forget the dynamic duo that was Tom Brady and Randy Moss in the 2007 season. These guys are going to kick tush and take names (which shouldn’t be hard, since the names are on the back of the jerseys . . .)

Sorry, Philadelphia Eagles fans. Feel free to toss your cookies, as this blogger suggests. We promise not to make you feel self-conscious. Unless you’re Spygate witchhunter Sen. Arlen Specter, but we’re fairly certain he doesn’t read this blog.

Did the Denver Broncos videotape the San Diego Chargers practicing?
The report came out on Yahoo!—without any cited sources—and is recapped here on the San Diego Tribune. Seems Chargers GM A.J. Smith kicked up security a notch or 12 when he took the helm in 2003. Why? Smith “won’t go down those roads” but the Yahoo story does, alleging that ”Denver spies” inspired the change in tactics.

As to the videotaping:

“The NFL had been aware of it for several years (at least one NFL official had seen one of the tapes), but didn’t step in because it was considered a team issue.”

What did the Denver Broncos have to say about the report? Nada. What did the San Diego Chargers offer for comment? None.

Make of that what you will.

Our take? Roger Goodell has only reached the tip of the iceberg, and Belichick, if he’s guilty, is in good company.

Check out these 5 highly-probable Valentines to and from athletes, coaches, and a Senator on a mission.

1. Davean George to his Dallas Mavericks teammates

You guys mean SO much to me, I don’t even know where to begin. I know you had your heart set on Jason Kidd, but can’t you see that I belong here, not him? I’ve never felt this way about any other team. I want each and every one of you to be my Valentine. Come on, group hug!

2. Andy Pettitte to Roger Clemens

We’ve been through a lot together, bro. You’re probably a little upset with me for tattling on you to Congress, so please accept these Godiva truffles. Remember, a wise man once said, “Life is life a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re going to get.” My love to Debbie.

3. Eli Manning to Tom Brady

I never thought I’d pour out my heart to another quarterback, but . . . I love you, man. The way you and your team choked like that at the Super Bowl so I could get my first ring . . . I don’t know, Peyton and I underestimated your generosity. You rock.

4. Tom Coughlin to Bill Belichick

You make me feel special, Bill. Before you came along I was just another surly coach about to get a pink slip. But when I figured out that the media trashes you even more than they do me, it was love at first sight. That whole losing the Super Bowl thing was icing on the cake. Would you be my Valentine? P.S. Love, love, LOVE the red hoodie!

5. Sen. Arlen Specter to the Philadelphia Eagles

I had an emotional epiphany during this past NFL season, and you guys are at the heart of it. You know this Spygate witchunt I’m on, putting Roger Goodell in the hot seat and all? It’s for YOU, all of you, that I’m doing this. Here’s to a wonderful 2008 season, you special, special guys.
