Arnie to Receive Congressional Gold Medal

One of the all-time greats is set to receive an all-time (and much deserved) honor, as golfing legend Arnold Palmer has been named as a recipient of a Congressional Gold Medal.  The award is being presented to Palmer for his distinguished achievements and contributions.  Arnie becomes the second golfer to win the prestigious award, following in the footsteps of Byron Nelson, who was given the medal posthumously in 2006.
Palmer is set to receive the award this coming Wednesday, at a ceremony held at the White House.  None other than President Barack Obama himself will be on hand to make the …read more

“I have always had great respect for Arnold and his legacy at the Masters, and I did not, in any way, want to infringe on …read more

The festivities kick off in Orlando, home of the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Women and Children, a medical center that Palmer helped found.  The hospital crew will host a breakfast celebration for Palmer.  …read more

Arnold Palmer: Honorary Masters Starter

Once again this year, four-time Masters champion, Arnold Palmer drove the first, ceremonial tee shot down the first fairway at the Augusta National course to start the competition at the 2009 Masters Tournament.

This is the third year that Palmer has played the role of starter, a tradition that dates back to 1963. Three-time champion, Gary Player announced this week that this year’s tournament would be his last time and there is talk of having him share the starting duties with Palmer in coming years. Palmer said he would welcome sharing the role.
Palmer won the tournament in 1958, 1960, 1962, and …read more
