So Bioshock gives me a headache when I play for long periods. I can still enjoy it for a couple of hours, right? I take in the twisted art deco, the awesome eye candy, and the superior audio for 120 minutes or so, then log out happy, right?

Taking in the atmosphere may put a grin on my face, but the visit to Rapture can get really tedious because you can fight only so much bad guys before you notice that there’s not much variety in the antagonists you encounter.

You have a few splicers, two types of big daddies (that look pretty much the same), a bunch of little sisters that you can’t tell apart from each other, and a few freakish stage bosses that are too far in between that somehow remind you of the splicers.

That’s pretty much it.<o></o>

Can’t I have ninjas? Ninjas are always cool. How about bears that shoot lasers out of its eyes? Nevermind that these types of enemies have nothing to do with Rapture or Plasmids. Hardly anyone pays attention to FPS storylines anyway.

Sure, you may have felt a little sick when you played Half-Life 2, but who didn’t right?

Sure, you may have felt a little sick when you played Half-Life 2, but who didn’t right?

<o> </o>

If there’s one thing I really dislike about my short time spent playing Bioshock, it’s the motion sickness I get after playing the game for a couple of hours. It’s not as hurl-inducing as Half-Life 2 (which starts to make me sick in less than 60 minutes), but the headache does begin to set in after you’ve had a good share of Rapture’s gun smoke and art deco.

<o> </o>

So what do I do when I gain the inspiration to heave my previous meal out through my maw? I stop. Very reluctantly.

<o> </o>

Question is: does Bioshock really cause motion sickness, or was it the semi-choppy visuals that caused the headache? I won’t be able to tell until I get my video card back. Are you reading this, Rising Sun?

Yes, the Bioshock hype machine is running full-steam ahead, and we’re all perpetrators. But can you blame us or the masses for swallowing it all up? The art deco in this game can sure make everyone pitch the proverbial tent.
The latest morsel—Irrational Games, the developer of Bioshock, had a lot to share about the weapons available in this upcoming shooter, and the various ways you can use them for taking down enemies.

Beware: the developers seem to be spouting a lot of hyperbole, but those unable to get the XBL demo should be happy to see more details on the game before it ships. Check out the interview after the jump.

Yes, you’ll see that there are a hundred ways to destroy your enemies in Bioshock, compared to System Shock 2. There also seems to be a better abundance of weapons and plasmids, so the video gives the impression that the game will be more fast-paced. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? We’ll find out very soon.
