Review of Webbased FeedReaders

TechCrunch (uhh, i mean Frank Gruber) examined nine web-based feed readers (Attensa Online, Bloglines, FeedLounge, Google Reader, Gritwire, News Alloy, NewsGator Online, Pluck Web Edition, Rojo).
Not much of a shock here, Google Reader and FeedLounge are the fastest in performace. Bloglines and Rojo are the best choice for a feature rich application. Except none seem to approach the speed and agility of the desktop based readers like NetNewsWire and FeedDemon (surprise;).

Craig Barnes, President and Founder of Attensa, writes on his blog about Attensa and believes attention is the holy grail to solving the emerging problem of information overload. I could not agree more. And in his opinion, the overload problem will be obvious to the masses once Outlook 12 (and IE7) introduce RSS capabilities to the rank and file “knowledge worker.” Outlook 12 will help cause information overload, not help mitigate it. RSS startup gets $9 million

This Monday it was announced that a $9-million investment was made in Attensa, a software company developing a web syndication or RSS network. Attensa spokesperson Scott Niesen said RSS Investors ponied up $5 million, with the remainder coming from SmartForest Ventures and other smaller early investors. Attensa and RSS Investors said the technology can help companies use RSS as a tool for their employees.
