Twelve South’s cute little Apple accessory, aka the BackPack, fits on the back of your iMac or Apple Cinema Display. It’s made of heavy gauge steel and is sturdy enough to hold just about anything that can fit on it. A nice addition is the perforated base that can be used to secure all of the cables coming out of the back of your computer. The question is: is it useful enough to be worth $30?

Twelve South extols the device’s many virtues at its website, such as its height adjustability, its ease of use, and the fact that it won’t leave any scratch marks on your Mac. You can even use more than one at a time. But $30? For amounts to a shelf? That’s all it really is, after all.

Or, you can buy a six-pack for $150. That’s the equivalent of buy 5, get one free.

Still, it does look awfully stylish. It even matches the color and texture of your stainless steel Mac.

What do you think?
