Do you still remember what made Battlefield games special? Any self-respecting FPS fan is likely to have experienced his or her share of Conquest, the multiplayer mode that placed developer Digital Illusions CE on the who’s who of first-person shooting. As you may have heard, Battlefield: Bad Company didn’t come with the gametype when it shipped last June.
Well, Conquest is heading to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 today. According to IGN, Conquest would appear on the Xbox Live Marketplace after an automatic update is released. I’ve played the demo for Battlefield: Bad Company, and it pretty much captures what GameTrailers’ video review is saying: it’s fun to blow stuff up. There’s also a single player campaign now to keep players busy, which would be particularly useful since the Conquest mode in multiplayer hasn’t shipped yet.
It’s a good thing Conquest is going to be given away for free. Unfortunately, those previous plans for microtransactions has made me leery of Bad Company as a whole. Despite this positive GameTrailers review, Bad Company is still rental material to me.

There’s a new video clip for Battlefield: Bad Company circulating in the internets. It looks like the Digital Illusions-created FPS is once again getting some sort of attention (cough *micropayments* cough), but not because of its merits.

Tell me, is the video clip funny, or is it as a pathetic attempt to get some attention because all eyes are currently on Metal Gear Solid 4? My money’s on the latter.

If there’s one thing that’s disappointing in Call of Duty 4 (aside from its short single-player mode’s length), it’s the lack of destructible environments. You won’t have that problem in Battlefield: Bad Company because from the looks of things, you can shoot holes on ANY structure.

There doesn’t seem to be any permanent cover in Bad Company. However, I still don’t know if the upcoming FPS would have a physics engine that’s realistic enough to show an entire structure being demolished to the ground.
Sure, you can blow holes on walls, but would an entire building fall if you destroy its foundations?

Many of the things the private said seem to be confidential with the cuts and all.

Would the game have that seemingly-humorous tone when we do get to play it? It’s hard to say. What we can confirm is that since it’s a Battlefield game, there’s multiplayer. Surprisingly, there’s a single-player campaign thrown in the mix, so I’m very curious to see how it all adds up.
