2009 Midseason Undefeated and Winless

We’re about at the mid-season point for college football. I always think it’s interesting to see which teams have gone undefeated so far and which teams have yet to win a game. By this time, most teams have had at least ONE tough opponent and at least ONE game where they had a chance to win. Here’s how the lists look this year:
Undefeated:

Alabama
Boise State
Cincinnati
Florida
Iowa
Kansas
South Florida
TCU
Texas

Winless

Ball State
Eastern Michigan
Florida Atlantic
Miami (OH)
New Mexico
Rice
Western Kentucky

Really, I think the big surprises here are that there are no major surprises. Few people would have put Iowa on the undefeated list when predicting records at this point …read more

Another Michigan Player Leaves

When Llyod Carr got replaced as Michigan’s head coach by Rich Rodriguez, formerly of West Virginia, there was a mass exodus of players. Everyone thought that the school would go from having a traditional, family feel to being more sterile. And they were right, at least according to offensive lineman Kurt Wermers.
Wermers is the latest Michigan player to leave the school, saying that the whole dynamic between players and coaches is just different than it was under Carr.

What the Hell, Ball State?

Ball State is one of 2008’s most controversial teams. Undefeated, they’re one of the few teams that doesn’t have a chance at a BCS bowl. What they did have an off-season chance to do was play another undefeated team, Boise State, who also also deserves a BSC bowl if you want to get technical.
