Obama Boosting Chicago’s 2016 Olympic Bid

If you’ve been following the bids for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, you probably know that it’s down to four cities – Rio de Janeiro, Madrid, Tokyo and Chicago.  Naturally, Oprah has been heavily involved with trying to get the Games held in her hometown but now the bid is getting another huge supporter – President Barack Obama.

Obama and his wife, Michelle, will be traveling to Copenhagen, Denmark to pitch to the International Olympic Committee which will be the first time a U.S. president actually showed up in person to beg on behalf of the host city.

Is Obama Open to Newspaper Bailout?

President Barack Obama was interviewed recently by the Toledo Blade / Toledo Times website/newspaper. The topic of discussion was the flailing and struggling that’s taking place in the print newspaper industry.

In the interview, the discussion started heading towards the idea of a potential government bailout or other options for the newspapers. President Obama said he hadn’t seen any detailed proposals, but would be open to options to help the struggling papers.
We’re advancing technology right? Why do we need to support an industry that doesn’t need to be saved? I believe the reason they’re failing is because the newspapers haven’t …read more

Clean you Laptops, double check them up before leaving

If you want to be safe, if you want your laptop or electronic gears be returned to you, make sure you clean them up and double check them before leaving your home.

People are objecting to the new rules of the Obama administration on the border laptop searches which is similar to the Bush administration policy. In the Bush administration, Homeland Security Department are allowed to seize traveler’s laptops and other digital gears with no question and no guarantee of return and no explanation when remained unreturned.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has issued a new directive about the …read more

Obama Supports the Wii-House

I’m not sure if you caught it or not, but Obama had a little bit to say recently about kids and our responsibility as parents. Specifically he stated that parents need to turn off the Xbox and get our kids in bed at a reasonable hour.

The article I read about his statement says that the Obama household living in the White House is a Wii family. Was he taking sides? Why didn’t he mention the Wii specifically instead of the Xbox?
Now I’m not saying we should read too much into this. Who really knows why he mentioned Xbox initially …read more

EA Sports Boss Challenges Obama

Last week, President Barack Obama linked video games to a sedentary lifestyle in a speech to the American Medical Association about health care reform. And certainly, we all know that sitting on a couch in front of your console or computer screen for hours on end isn’t great for your fitness level. However, EA SPORTS President posted a challenge to our American President on his official blog.
From Peter Moore:
Of course, I can’t resist pointing out that while I’ve always wholeheartedly endorsed moderation in anything you do, including playing games, it may be time for the President and his family to …read more

James Harrison to Skip Barack Obama Invite

Sometimes there are sports stories that make you scratch your head. This is one such story featuring James Harrison of the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers.
Harrison, who set a record during the Super Bowl with a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown, said he will skip the customary visit with the President of the United States. Why will Harrison pass on the invite to meet Barack Obama?
This is what Harrison told Andrew Stockey of WTAE Channel 4 Action News: “This is how I feel — if you want to see the Pittsburgh Steelers, invite us when we don’t win the …read more

What TV Shows Does Obama Watch?

Have you ever wondered what kinds of TV shows President Barack Obama likes to watch? I won’t lie, I’ve wondered about music but I assumed he really didn’t have time for television. I read an article on Variety.com that changed my mind.
Apparently, the American President loves to watch Entourage (me too!) which is about an up-and-coming actor and his group of friends (and brother) after he moves out to Hollywood.  It’s based loosely on the life of Mark Wahlberg, who produces the series.  I didn’t know that the character of Ari Gold (a talent agent played perfectly by …read more
