But beyond gasping for air and feeling icy cold, what can a cold shower do for you? I’ll start off with the health benefits and then my experience.

Stimulates your circulation

cleans toxins from your body

improves skin

improves hair

I adopted taking cold showers in the spirit of turning over that imaginary leaf for this school year. And now that I’ve said that the next time I see a leaf, I’m turning it over – for real. Continuing, I really have felt some trace of rejuvination after over a week straight of taking a cold shower every morning.

My shower routine is a cold shower in the morning and a warm shower at night. The logic is this will help me wake up in the morning and go to sleep at night. My body will physically be sent a message.

As far as effects, a cold shower feels scintillating and for the first few days left me gasping, but after about 10 days, I’m starting to get accustomed to it and I actually look forward to it now. One of the other side effects I read about for cold showers is a mental or even spiritual one. If I had a vote, I’d say my mind is better for it.

A cold shower is one way to feel an extreme. Jump right in and feel the benefits.

If at all possible, I highly recommend you wake up early to workout. This gives you several additional bonuses over working out later in the day. I love when I get in this habit, but it’s tough to keep up. I’m going to try again starting this week.
Benefits to working out in the morning:

Energizes you for the rest of the day (gets the blood flowing)
Puts a positive, more productive spin to your mindset
You don’t have to worry about going to the gym later
Your workouts won’t be put off by tiredness and other things that “pop up”
You’ll be ready to go [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

Benefits to working out in the morning:

Energizes you for the rest of the day (gets the blood flowing)

Puts a positive, more productive spin to your mindset

You don’t have to worry about going to the gym later

Your workouts won’t be put off by tiredness and other things that “pop up”

You’ll be ready to go to sleep early

Less likely you’ll be late to work or school if you’re up well before you need to leave

You’ll physically look more vibrant

This list comes from first-hand knowledge. As I said, I’ve been in this zone a few times and this really does give you a natural high. What I really like about it is you’ve got your workout over and done with and this frees up time later in your day.
