Broken Steel Coming to PS3 Early?

I was over at Joystiq this morning and read “Fallout 3 Trophies show up in player profiles“.
Interesting, I thought, since you know how much of a fan I am of Fallout 3 [though I did think that the ending was a big pile of letdown].
Even though Xbox 360 players have had Fallout 3’s DLCs for FOREVER, PS3’s first offering – Broken Steel – isn’t supposed to be available until next month. But, with trophies already popping up [though you obviously can't unlock them yet], it’s leading some to wonder if Broken Steel might be making its debut a bit earlier. …read more

Free Elder Scrolls Game

If you’re pinching your pennies right now and putting off getting any new games, now’s your time to get a classic game for nothing.
That’s right. For free.
Bethesda [one of my all-time favorite studios] has cut the price of Daggerfall to the low, low price of $0.
You have to download DOSBox emulator but don’t freak out since Bethesda includes a link to the emulator. If you’re gonna play an old ass game, you better play it right. If you’re so inclined, you can also get The Elder Scrolls: Arena for free too.
Yay! Free games!

WET

So this game was announced in ‘07 with a release date of sometime in ‘08. Obviously, it’s ‘09 now so things must have gotten a bit “sticky” for Bethesda.
No worries.
Wet, a third-person acrobatic shooter, tells the tale of Rubi Malone, “a gun for-hire”.
From the release:
WET is a highly-stylized third person shooter that seamlessly blends gun play, sword kills and over-the-top acrobatics to create the ultimate interactive action experience. The game allows you to shoot anywhere, anytime. You will have the freedom to shoot while running, sliding down ladders, sliding across the floor, or performing any number of acrobatic moves. Fallout 3 DLC Coming to PS3

And the heavens [and me] rejoiced!
I have read over the past couple of months about all of the wonderful, AMAZING [!!!] DLC [downloadable content] that has been available to PC and XBOX360 users who play Fallout 3 and have felt a smidge of envy.
OK. It was all out envy and lust and a pinch of anger tossed in for good measure.
While I readily admit that I LOVE my PS3 and am happy with my favorite platform, the lack of DLC for a game that has sucked me into the black hole of time suckage left me bitter.
Apparently Bethesda felt my …read more

You’re lucky. I’ll just have to live vicariously through you all.

What Makes You Buy a Game?

When I buy a game, I always consider the game’s replay value.
If it’s a cut-and-dry RPG then I go into the purchase knowing that I’m probably not going to replay it and I just hope for a really long game. If it’s a FPS then there had better be some good on-line play going on.
Call of Duty:4 is a good cross between the two.
You have a great story when you play the game from start to finish AND you have a solid [and addictive] on-line component.
When I bought Fallout 3, I knew that it was made by the same …read more

Fallout 3 Review

So, I finally managed to get my hands Bethesda’s new nuclear fallout game, Fallout 3 and all I can say is… what the hell? Okay… I actually have more than just “what the hell” to say. So, what’s my problem? The game… well, it’s strange. Especially for one being held as a RPG. The game is dark, sad, depressing, yet funny at the same time. How is this even possible?
First off, as many of you may recall, Bethesda is also the company who created one of the best RPGs EVER KNOWN TO MAN. And that game was Elder Scrolls IV: …read more
