Now in Theaters: “Obsessed”

Looking to see a good thriller this weekend? Well, I’m not sure I can promise it’s going to be good but Obsessed opens in theaters today and it’s supposed to be filled with suspense and action. It’s up against Fighting and The Soloist so I’m not sure where it’s going to place in the box-office race but I’ve heard a lot of people say they were going to see it so I think it has a chance to make the most this weekend.

The movie stars Beyoncé Knowles, Idris Elba, Ali Larter and Jerry O’Connell and tells the story of a couple who suddenly fear for their safety when the husband (played by Elba) realizes he’s being stalked by a temp (Larter) at work.   I’m happy to see Jerry O’Connell getting some work too but he looks like he’s seen better days.  Maybe he’s jogging too much because he looks thin and less cool to me.   Moving on…

Judging from the previews, this movie has a The Hand That Rocks the Cradle meets Fatal Attraction vibe to it and I’m not sure that Beyoncé has the acting chops to pull the role off.  You know there’s going to be a serious girl-on-girl fight at the end of this where the husband somehow becomes physically unable to save his wife.   Bad acting can really make that climactic scene turn into a comical one so I hope they did that part right.  Major kudos to the production team for making her look like a “regular” woman, though.

I found this trailer on the Sony Pictures YouTube Channel but I think it gives too much away.  I suppose the storyline should be obvious anyway but I hate when studios put too much out there.

Beyoncé Plays “Rhythm Heaven” on DS

Singing superstar, Beyoncé Knowles, is appearing in a new commercial for Rhythm Heaven which is available exclusively on Nintendo DS/DSi.

The game, which is set to be released on April 5, 2009, allows you to use your stylus to “capture the beat of the music in a variety of mini games.”  You can also turn your system sideways and hold it like a book and then slide, tap and/or flick the stylus to the beat of the rhythm.  The game sort of reminds of me Wii Music but I haven’t actually played it so I can’t really compare.

In the commercial, Beyoncé is shown sitting on a couch having fun but imagine if she couldn’t keep the beat?  That would have been HILARIOUS.

The video of the commercial can be seen below but, if you’re interested, you can watch another video that provides a behind-the-scenes look at how the commercial was made.  She even brings out her little nephew, Julez (the son of her younger sister, Solange).  Very cute!

Beyonce Lends Street Cred to Rythym Heaven

Rythym Heaven [Rizumu Tengoku Gōrudo] has taken Japan by storm.

It’s the wildly popular follow-up to the Gameboy Advance game-Rhythm Tengoku-and is set to hit American soil on April 5th along with Nintendo’s DSi.

And now, apparently Beyonce is getting in on the gaming action.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Beyonce confesses to being a fan of Guitar Hero [who knew?] and that she “make[s] time” for gaming.

No one can deny the “star power” that Beyonce [and her song] brings to the DSi and Rythym Heaven’s US launch and since Rythym Heaven [I keep wanting to type Rythym Nation!] is a very “Japanese” game, maybe the endorsement of sorts will expose a larger market to funky/cool little game.

Then again, I was hooked after watching a couple of Japanese trailers on YouTube.com. Seriosly. Who can’t love the game after watching someone toss some turnips? Love it!

David Beckham Ends Deal With Pepsi

2008 Pepsi MLS All-Star Game - West Ham United v MLS All Stars

All good things must come to an end, I guess. David Beckham has announced that he and Pepsi are no longer affiliated.

***sniff snifff***

Okay, I admit, I LOVED the David Beckham commercials with Pepsi. Loved the creativity and variety of them. David himself said, “I have nothing but good memories of my association with Pepsi. I’ve played a gladiator, a cowboy, a surfer, and worked alongside Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez as well as some of the biggest names in world football.”

I think the Pepsi commercials showed us that David would be great in a little feature flick. (Or perhaps they just showed me that!)

Anywho, this little “breakup” with Pepsi seems very amicable. They were together TEN YEARS though so I’m sure David is grieving the loss a little bit. At least he has the warmth of his loving wife Victoria to help him out. (She won’t be smiling, but she’ll be supportive. She might even give him a hug. Who knows.)

To commemorate the end of the Beckham/Pepsi era, here are my favorite commercials featuring the hunky soccer dude.

This one showed Beckham walking to the locker room and drinking a Pepsi. A little boy follows him and then asks for his shirt. It’s a touching scene, and then turns to humor as the kid takes the shirt, wipes off the can of Pepsi, and gives the shirt back. It’s funny and sweet - how could we resist?

This commercial shows Beckham as part of a fuse ball game. Haven’t we all wondered what it would be like to be one of the little fuse ball dudes? After a few beers? When we’ve been really bored?

This is the infamous surfing commercial, with some very cool scenes of Beckham surfing and playing soccer. (With a little help from some special effects, of course.)

This commercial, however, has to the best one ever. It features Beckham with Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez. The commercial just begs for a J-Lo and Beyonce team up somehow, either in a music video, duet, or movie. (Wouldn’t that be great.) Beckham really isn’t even a factor in this commerical - it’s all about the ladies!
