With the Patriots up by six points against the Indianapolis Colts with about two minutes remaining, New England faced a 4th down and two inside their own 30 yard line. Instead of punting the ball and forcing Peyton Manning and company to march down the field needing a touchdown, Belichick decided to go for it.

After the Patriots came up short on the 4th down play, Manning and the Colts easily scored and took the lead. Getting the ball back with just seconds remaining, the Patriots were unable to score and lost 35-34.

The loss kept the Colts perfect at 9-0. The loss dropped the Patriots to 6-3 and now Bill Belichick will have one serious question to answer: What were you thinking?

Galloway’s speed was supposed to be a good fit to go with Brady’s arm. However, after six weeks of the season, it was obvious things weren’t going as planned. As a result, the Patriots decided to release the 37-year-old wide receiver.
Said Bill Belichick: “He’s had a great career and this is one of those things that just didn’t work out. I don’t think it’s anybody’s fault or anything that you just pinpoint.”

On the season, Galloway had seven catches for 67 yards while playing in three games. Scouts say that he had trouble learning the complicated plays the Patriots employ. And age certainly didn’t help Galloway’s cause.

It’ll be interesting to see if another team will give Galloway a shot to prove his career isn’t over. After being drafted in 1995 by the Seattle Seahawks, Galloway went on to play for the Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Patriots.

NOT!
But apparently Josh McDaniels, the new coach for the Denver Broncos (and former coach under Belichick) is trying to bring Belichick’s way of doing things to the Broncos.

I was able to wrap my head around the fact that his cut-off sweatshirt wearing, videotaping presence was contained to the Pats. Now these “protégés” of his are popping up all over and bringing the outlook that no player is bigger than the team to the rest of the league. Now these “protégés” of his are popping up all over and bringing the outlook that no player is bigger than the team to the rest of the league. (Like Jay Cutler, who deserves some respect and is apparently getting none when it comes to getting a new contract.)

It’s not that I don’t think Belichick is all bad. Heck, no one is all bad. But the whole “spy-gate” situation of late has me wondering why he’s still a coach. But if new coaches are truly using Belichick as a mentor, let’s hope they stick to the rules of the game and leave the video cameras at home.

As for Charlie Weis, doing anything other than coach the underachieving Notre Dame Fighting Irish has to be an improvement. The fact that he got to sing wit Bon Jovi was just icing on the cake.

Here is the video of Bill Belichick and Charlie Weis getting their groove on with Bon Jovi:
