NASCAR Taketh Away

Peyton Sellers won the season-opening Camping World East Series event this past weekend at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Easley, SC for Andy Santerre Motorsports. Following the race, however, NASCAR officials found that the 16-year-old’s car was in possession of an illegal shock, and NASCAR in turn stripped him of his victory. This is the first time in recent memory that I believe NASCAR has stripped a driver in any series of a win for any rules infraction, but the team definitely feels like they’re being made an example of.

Busch Still Not Sure About Pursuit of Nationwide Title

He’s won three consecutive Nationwide events this year, and currently sits third in points – a mere 66 points behind series leader, Clint Bowyer. Still, Kyle Busch remains undecided as to whether or not he will run the entire Nationwide Series schedule and pursue the championship.
Additionally, Busch currently holds a 35 point lead in the Craftsman Truck Series, with two wins and 3 top-five finishes in the four races that series as run to-date. Craftsman Truck Series Results / Standings: California

 
After leading the previous 18 laps heading into lap 76, Todd Bodine – winner of the Craftsman Truck Series’ season debut in Daytona – lost the lead to the 22-year old Kyle Busch, who coincidentally headed into this weekend’s race at California Speedway in a three-way tie for first place after Bodine was docked 25 points by NASCAR for a rule infraction at Daytona.
