You know, if you think about it, monetizing original video content isn’t rocket science. You post your videos on your own site with ads, either on-site or in-video. Then, you superdistribute your videos across video-sharing sites with active participation and links back to your site (and, preferably, with revenue-sharing). I surprised more Hollywoood types just don’t go ahead and do it. They have to do crazy shit like compete with video-sharing sites — or worse, sue them.
Damon Wayans here gets it. He’s promoting his comedy site, Wayout TV, as guest editor on YouTube — just in time for Black History [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

You know, if you think about it, monetizing original video content isn’t rocket science. You post your videos on your own site with ads, either on-site or in-video. Then, you superdistribute your videos across video-sharing sites with active participation and links back to your site (and, preferably, with revenue-sharing). I surprised more Hollywoood types just don’t go ahead and do it. They have to do crazy shit like compete with video-sharing sites — or worse, sue them.

Damon Wayans here gets it. He’s promoting his comedy site, Wayout TV, as guest editor on YouTube — just in time for Black History Month. His site still looks pretty rough — required signup, no ads, no embeds, limited navigation, incomplete fullscreen — but he’s got the general idea: erect your site, penetrate communities, and spill your content all over the place.
