Blockbuster OnDemand coming to Samsung TVs

Samsung has announced a new partnership with Blockbuster to bring its OnDemand streaming movie service to all 2009+ model Samsung Blu-ray players and HDTVs.
Samsung’s Plasma Series 650 and above HDTVs, LED Series 7000 and above HDTVs, and all 2009 model Blu-ray players will get a firmware update this fall that will allow users to search the entire OnDemand library, and then stream any movie directly onto their TV, with no other hardware required. (Sorry international movie buffs, but the Samsung/OnDemand deal is for U.S. residents only.) The firmware update will come as a free download.
Vizio releasing social networking TV

Vizio is about to up the ante with the release of its “XVT” line of flatscreen TVs, certain models of which will come with a slew of pre-loaded applications that give you access to social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, along with video download services like Netflix and Blockbuster.
It comes with a wicked cool remote that, like some cell phones, includes a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Is Blockbuster Going Out of Business?

I was pretty shocked when I read reports yesterday that movie rental giant, Blockbuster Inc., is at risk of shutting its doors if they can’t get their financial problems under control. The company, which is based out of Dallas, Texas has apparently been suffering since DVD-by-mail services like Netflix (I just wrote about one of their new offers!) have become more popular.

Prince of Persia Movie

There have been ten Prince of Persia games. [eleven if you count Prince of Persia Classic]
And, as if that wasn’t enough Prince of Persia craziness for you, now, there’s talk of a movie.
Actually, “talk” makes it sound like it’s a rumor.
Nope. Not a rumor.
Jerry Bruckheimer is set to direct the movie that is still in preproduction.
Jordan Mechner, creator of the series, is cagey about a possible game tie-in with the movie. “Sorry, but I can’t answer that question!” screams “Hell, yeah there’s going to be a game” to me. How about you?
